lol Climate change

If only they had solar panels and hybrids during the Eocene period.

Graph shows that the expected change in the temperature of Earth is expected to rise in the next 100 years? I'm no 'global warming hipster', but please also remember that the emission of greenhouse gases, pollutants, etc., etc. affects much more than just the temperature of Earth. Just looking at the temperature of Earth without taking into account the various other externalities is a shallow argument. There have been various studies conducted in which the cost of damages from fossil fuel exploration, consumption and emission were quantified and those costs are in the range of $0.03/kWh for coal and $0.16/kWh for NG (compared to virtually nothing for nuclear, wind and solar). It would be wise to look to the quantified costs of externalities when weighing the LCOE for each technology. All that said, I'm a firm believer in a combined energy mix that consists of NG and solar - and especially once battery storage becomes more widespread/mainstream. Don't kid yourselves, there's a reason why FPL is the largest owner of wind energy facilities in the United States (and second in the world). Also, Duke just purchased a majority stake in one of the largest U.S. solar installer firms (REC Solar) and Duke owns a commercial renewable portfolio that totals about 1.8 GW of solar and wind. Take a look at what Georgia Power is doing as well. The utilities may be slow, but they're quickly realizing the importance of a diverse energy mix that includes non-traditional forms of power generation.

I have no problem with humans being a cause of climate change...some scientists believe native americans dying out in the millions before Columbus came to America led to the last mini ice age...if 90 million people dying leading to forests regrowth can cause a mini iceage, what can 500 million plus cars do over 80+ years on top of all the factory released CO2 from the beginning of the industrial age...

its silly to think that humans don't have an affect on the environment...at the same time Earth used to be hotter for various reasons and the climate change without our influence so its silly to think that we are the only reason for climate change...

how about we stop caring who or what is at fault and figure out how to fix actual problems...

To be really effective, they shouldn't refer to it as "climate change" or "global warming," but rather "how the Earth's environment will disrupt current human existence." That's really what this boils down to. It isn't about saving the planet - the planet isn't going anywhere until the sun engulfs it when it goes red giant in about 1 billion years. It's about keeping what we have as familiar to us. The future may be hotter or colder, and the seas may be higher or lower, but humans will likely still be here. We're intelligent enough to adapt, but it may not be the same level of comfort that some of us live in.

Can't wait for the next cataclysmic impact event like the one during Younger Dryas

We'll get used to whatever it's at as long as it keeps on in the same spot. We've gotten used to this one, so it's this one.
