We can't afford him, can we? He won't stay unemployed long..

He played at Miami. Might become their top target if he wants to jump right back into coaching.

This Georgia job is going to create a domino effect for UCF. If they hire Dan Mullen Miss State will give Geoff Collins a call for an interview, he just worked there. White needs to move fast

I agree that UGa is likely to call Mullen. (not sure if Mullen leaves, however). Also not sure State calls Collins immediately if Mullen does leave.. Their parting of ways was mutual at best (and Collins was "not wanted back" at worst.)

Hopefully White knows how to navigate these waters.

Richt can recruit. Georgia always had great recruiting classes even when we beat them.

Great...a team that couldn't beat ucf when they had a team full of 4 star players an a few 5 star players. I'd rather stick with Collins.

It's amazing how some posters on this board are so narrow minded and have tunnel vision. Like that was his only game. It's not like we are the premier
program in the country here and can just hire Nick Saban. It would be nice to hire Collins, but the way the cards are falling, we aren't even near the top
5 programs searching for a coach right now.

are you sure that wasn't spin by a bitter Mississippi State? Mullen was pissed that Collins left for Florida and called it a 'lateral move'.

anyway if UCF wants Collins they better move fast in case the job opens in Starkvegas

As I google back, I'd say you're right. I was recalling how he was scapegoated hard in the midst of the 1-3 finish last year. But it does sound like, in the end, it was Collins' choice to leave.

Stupid UGA. They're about to go the way of Tennessee and Texas. Richt was the only thing keeping the SEC from being a complete douchebacle. A classy guy that cared about his staff and players. When all you care about is winning, you miss the point of college athletics. It's actually a really sad day in the world of college football. I hope UGA gets a Les Miles/Bobby Petrio type of sleezy coach that will win at all cost and put the program under NCAA sanctions.

He had many top 15 recruiting classes and hasn't done much with them. I'd rather not go with a fired coach that was mediocre at best. He seems like a good guy but we won't win championships with him.

We "won championships" with the likes of GOL. More arrogance from this fanbase. We aren't Alabama, Florida or Ohio state

I'll take even a top 30-50 recruiting class at this point and roll the dice with Richt and good assistant coaches.

Richt is terrible. He couldn't win with top rated talent and was fired. I don't get the love affair with him. He won't get the same level of recruits here so he will be even worse. Let's not take a coach that can't win with elite talent.

Why would you think he would get top 30 talent with Richt? That makes no sense.

LMAO are you holding out hope for Nick Saban or urban Meyer you clown?

I don't think any coach that was just canned is in the right frame of mind.

Nice insult...are you 10? I'll take Barbers, Chizik, or Collins first over a coach that was just canned

The canned coaches had different expectations where they were at. At UCF it's win a cute beef o Brady's bowl and beat usf. The canned coaches might prefer to stay at UCF long term than the other newbies using UCF as a springboard to a P5 job. Don't be dumb. Richt would be great.

I want a coach on an upswing. I like that Barbers is winning with little resources and low ranked recruits. I like the Florida connection with Collins and his defense is lights out. You will win a lot of games in the aac with a good defense and I think he understands the 18 year olds these days. Chizik has also done an incredible job building a sick defense at unc.

Maybe I biased because I know how little Georgia prepared for the liberty bowl and it showed. I'm uneasy about any coach struggling to win with the advantages of being a flagship with 4 and 5 star recruits across the board.

I think Collins is my favorite option if we can get him.

Offensive minded coaches will get UCF where they want to be. Would be a mistake to hire a defensive coach.

yeah I was rooting for Collins, watch it be someone outside the 4 being reported

Better not be that guy from Nevada. I watched San Diego State run all over them late last night! Guy looked pissed off all the time. Reminded me of Bobby Knight.

Mark Richt won two SEC titles with Georgia but i agree that hiring him would be like bringing in an older Donnie Jones.

Thats what Dr Hitt wants apparently. He's Muschamp at a fraction of the cost.

I could see several candidates getting eliminated if UCF pushed the long term commitment and they give the wrong answer. That also can lead to mediocre candidates no one else wants

Right now, I'm OK with a stepping stone coach to right this ship and put us back in the P5 talk. Someone else can continue that.
