I'm actually surprised it wasn't double digits. Vegas is beginning to show us a little respect. Maryland actually is not a bad team so far, and I had this down as a certain loss before the season. Now...,, who knows?? I would be surprised if they blew us out. We officially aren't anything like the 2015 team IMO.


These next 2 game will show us what we really are going forward more than the last 2.

By the way. SC state lost to Louisiana Tech by 29 (us by 38). Louisiana Tech lost to Arkansas (who just beat TCU) by 1.

Power Rankings and Sagarin have Maryland ranked 72 and 66, while we are 95 and 94.
Sagarin puts UCF at 6 points down and home field advantage cuts that to 3 1/2.
But I could see us easily lose by 30 or win. Just too many uncertainties, such as who is playing QB.
 
I wonder if Maryland traveling to Florida twice in a week will have any affect on them.

I don't see us losing by 30. You can let me have it if we do.

We still have no idea what to expect. We've played 2 teams. One is a MEAC team at home and the other is the #5 team in the country on the road. Even after Saturday, UCF is still very much a work in progress. We are at the absolute beginning of a metamorphosis. For this season, I am only really interested in what we look like in games 10, 11 and 12.

I watched a little bit of the Maryland-FIU game on Friday night. They have a pretty good offense. I think we lose. I was thinking Vegas would have them as two touchdown favorites. I hope I'm wrong of course. Would be a great win if we did win. Go Knights!

What's their QB like?
 
We need to play a close game with them to continue to make progress.

All bets are off for game final predictions with current QB play.

don't remember what their QB was like. I didn't watch in detail, just in and out.. Maybe FIU defense was bad but they moved the ball pretty easily.

We scored 14 on Michigan and missed 2 field goals. 20 points if we make our kicks, and that's against a top defense. I think we put up more than 24 points. I'll take the over.

If the "turtles" play sloppy, I think we hold them under 20. Our defense has a lot of potential.

So, my logic puts us at 38-17 UCF. But I don't feel confident in that prediction. I'm worried about this game! Maryland has looked pretty good in their wins.

I love roadtrips for football!! Thanks for the pics. Looks fine to me. Can always take a side trip to Miami or Fort Lauderdale.

Will there be women? Check

Maryland was not supposed to be very good this year because they were projected not to have a good QB....their QB play was awful last year....but their returning QB is actually playing very well right now. He said he worked very hard over the summer.

Maryland has a new HC just like UCF. Durkin was the DC at Michigan. He appears to be a real cracker jack. On the Big Ten Network, they are now rating Maryland the 4th best team in the East Divison behind tOSU, UM, and MSU.

I thought the spread in this game would be more like 17 points. Maryland is playing very well.

It can be hard for teams to recover from tough physical/emotional games like UCF had last Saturday. I hope UCF is reenergized for this game. I think Maryland will be one of the 3 best teams UCF plays this year. Maryland's overall talent level probably exceeds UCF's. I wish UCF was playing Tulane this week and Maryland next week. IMO, Maryland right after a road trip to Michigan is not the best scenario for UCF.

The Frost Factor needs to be in full affect for this game. I would call it a big win if UCF can pull it off. I think Maryland is going to surprise the Big Ten Conference this year. Maryland landed a very good young coach (as UCF did) and they appear to be rising very quickly.

An 8 point spread in college means anything is possible. That said, I'm honestly just looking for the boys to compete. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Looking good in game 3 is a plus, but looking good in game 10 is what I really want to see.

You've heard me complain how USF and UCF have among the very highest student athletic fees in the nation because over 40% of the Athletic Department operating budget is funded from this hidden tuition charge. But that's nothing compared to FIU, where over 70% of their budget is paid by student fees. By comparison, UF students only pay for 3% and FSU is at 10% because they enjoy the revenue of Power 5 conferences. A bottom-feeding university line Miss St or Oklahoma St academically would be in a similar position as FIU in football without a P-5 membership.
 
I love how 3 AAC teams are favored tomorrow against P- 5 teams.
And the 3 AAC teams playing P-5's (including UCF) are underdogs by less than 10 points.
Gotta say something about greater parity of American vs. these conferences.
