Explain to me how our track record hinders us when compared to this? I'm goingbto love to hear the arguments. I'll go ahead and give you my answer (broken record): It comes down to how many tv sets you have access to and how much money you can bring to the table. If we get dissed in the next round of moves it won't have squat to do with our record against fiu, usf or anybody else. They'll see trophies and say,"That's nice and all but how are you going to bring X amount of dollars to the table?"

What are you talking about? Maryland sucks, but they are P5 and have been for a long time. What does any of this babbling have to do with anything?

If one of your past helmets was made of leather and you were in the right place at the right time, what you do today is irrelevant. You are a "power" team.

Plus they checked off another box for the Big Ten - academics. Maryland is a member of the AAU.

I still think UCF has to maintain football success in order to get the bump up. Getting the basketball program out of the dumpster wouldn't hurt either. Market and size alone are enough to keep us in the conversation, but there has to be another significant factor to put us over the top.

I am confused by the Maryland reference. Look at Rutgers and others if I assume what this thread is about.

Maryland athletics sucks right now, but they have a lot of things going for them. Founding P5 member, AAU member, state flagship, national championships, metro area with 6 million people and little FBS competition. Athletic success comes and goes, but a conference like the Big Ten looks at the long term.

Honestly, UCF isn't a candidate for any conference where those things are important. Fortunately they aren't important to the Big XII since they invited TCU and WVU. Those schools aren't noteworthy for their history, academics, or markets. They got in because they were winning BCS bowls when the B12 needed new members.

The point is they were a sh_t program in the ACC, and are now still a sh_t program in the Big Ten. The bigger picture is that they suck, but the bottom line was their TV market and ability to generate revenue from it.

They also went from P5 to P5

We're going to G5 to P5 which is much, much, much harder and has much, much, much more work to be done. Losing to FIU is not on that list.

I don't think it is. You give us money, access and 3-4 years and you could be in a position to compete towards the top of any P5 conference. We could certainly accomplish the 11-28 conference record Maryland had over this 5 year period. I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me what they've done in the last 30 years that makes them any different than a whole host if other programs, P5 or G5, if given the access, other than the fact that they just existed. Sure, they moved from one P5 conference to another but does that excuse the fact that they've sucked for a long time in football and are always "2-3 years from being good again". Again, my point is it's not necessarily about your record but your ability to generate revenue from tv contracts.

Delusional.

Maryland won a national title in basketball. Maryland had been a ACC member for a long time. Plus Maryland was bankrupt by Kay Yow's daughter was a terrible ad which is why they went to the big 10 to try and tred water.

They were too big to fail apparently.

Matty just agreed with us that Gol needs to be shown the door.

How do you plan on doing this??
It's this year or next and there's nothing you can do about it. He's leaving when he wants to.

21 1/2 months from a Fiesta bowl win.

Tied for conference championship in 2014.

0-2 this year with all of the issues that we have just won't get him fired. You're wasting your breath. Complaints are falling on deaf ears. Showing displeasure on an open Rivals board carries about as much weight as.......

Well..., it carries no weight.
