It would have a 14-story ski and snowboard mountain with nine snow tubing lanes and surfing pool. Looks insanely ambitious.

I would definitely go just to see it, assuming the prices arent insane.

As an actual snowboarder...i guarantee you it would be a terrible experience. I imagine long lines to go up and would likely take seconds to reach the bottom. Snow tubing would honestly be the way to go for the entire thing. No reason to create a 10 second snowboard run. Not even fun.

i mostly agree with this.
they could make it a legitimate terrain park/trainign area but that would cut their target market to

Wakeboard tow parks are still going strong. Not sure about Ron Jon.

I would be all over a 14 story drop in a tube, snow boarding would be like dry ice training. It is is that fake laminate stuff that teaches you somewhat, but nothing compared to the real thing.

You have to remember touristville where they will never experience this stuff in real life so the simulated is a good second option.

Apparently the plug was pulled on Ron Jon in 2008 - i knew it was a while ago but didn't know it was shut-down completely.

Sorry this will never get built. The I drive eye is going to massively fail and that will slow down the interest in these idiotic projects.

1. The eye in Atlanta is killing it last I heard. Ice can tell you better than I on that though. That is to overlook Atlanta which doesn't have Universal and Disney to look at from above. Never underestimate the power of the tourist to try anything if it is in Orlando.

2. Wide World of Sports if held to its own bottom line is a money pit. When you factor in the benefits to the surrounding resorts and additional park visits, it is a gold mine. You have no idea if the success of the individual park has anything to do with the financial success of the project. The group could own 1,000 acres surrounding the development area that they are going to redevelop or sell off and make their profit on that.

There are groups currently working on at least 3 sports complexes in Central Florida with varying financial plans surrounding them outside of this project.

You aren't their target market which is why you see it as a colossal failure. If you were a 14 year old Brazilian girl or a Japanese business man, they might be concerned.

Ski Dubai...which was built back in 2005, is a very successful indoor ski resort in the Middle East...as its tied with a large mall/hotel.

Doesn't really matter if its a small slope...as people will pay to snow ski in a very popular warm tourist area.

Same developer of Ski Dubai is also building a new mall/ski resort in Egypt too:

Ha, I've done Ski Dubai.

It's a fine attraction for people who haven't skied before or for kids but experienced skiers will be bored really fast. The "hill" is really underwhelming. It's also really expensive and the lines really sucked.

Problem in Kissimmee is that alot of out of towners will be coming from areas where they can do the real thing. How many people will dish out alot of money to do this fake slope?
