Matt Campbell would be perfect for UCF

That's all nice and good. but we have a coach for this year and/or next at least and a lot could change from now until then.

George is done this year. He's 70 now so he has pension/retirement/etc. plus his wife was supposedly not in the best of medical conditions.

I think this thread must be resurrected in light of recent events. Dude, why is this guy not our coach yet?
  • 35 years old, took over HC duties for Toledo since 2011.
  • Has never had a losing season while HC and has an overall record of 33-13 and 2-1 in Bowls, having played for the MAC championship twice, winning it once.
  • Toledo is currently ranked 25th in total offense and 24th in passing offense in the FBS
  • Toledo is also ranked 20th in the AP Poll, posting an undefeated record of 7-0 with 2 FBS wins over Arkansas and Iowa State.
  • Dude has a salary of 450K per year.
Somebody needs to get with Dr. Hitt ASAP!!!!!

I'm a big fan of plucking young up and coming coaches out of the MAC.

If this guy is not on our short list, we have some dumb motherfukcers compiling that list.

And to be honest, the whole "doesn't have a Florida connection" doesn't bother me. Florida connections haven't panned out that well for Miami, FIU, FAU and us(i)f as of late and, if he can win, all the local kids will want to play for him. Shit, he's just a bit older than they are!!!!! LOL!!!!

The reason why I'm not talking about him is cause I worry that one of these p5 schools picks him up

To me getting a head coach that wins at a G5 sounds really appealing. They are winning with less resources, Florida location, and AAC exposure. I'd be open to Campbell, Brohm, and Leavitt. The coordinatoes can be hit or miss. Especially when they are coaching 4 and 5 star talent.

For those of you keeping score, Matt Campbell and Toledo are now 8-0 this season with a 51-35 victory last night over UMass. They put up 620 yds of total offense and 6 TDs.

The clock is ticking...

Through 8 games this season, Toledo has put up 3,297 yds of total offense and 30 TDs. The guy is an offensive minded coach with a defense background (in college).

I still don't know about Matt Campbell. It may be because the last time we hired a MAC coach, we ended up with sanctions and the team isn't really any better. Also, most people on here would complain about his recruiting (even with his success, hasn't picked up a 4-star). That may show to his coaching ability to win games, but I don't think that will work too well in the AAC.

I think if we want to get the Big12's attention, we need to go out and pay for a big name coach.

You should read up on him. There's actually a very good article on ESPN about him. He's been on most team's radar since year two (2012) at Toledo.

I think winning solves anything. Doesn't matter where you recruit or if you're a big name, if this guy comes in right off the bat and beats P5 opponents and has winning seasons, everybody will notice.
