MBB: Memphis @UCF

I'll have to listen to Marc Daniels on the call. I thought about it a couple days ago to go, but workee-workee calls, Too busy next few days.

I'll offer my support to post game info on this thread though! LOL. Go Knights!

I’m happy for the guys that they were able to bounce back. Despite Mahan’s off night, we were able to get enough from DGJ and Perry to pull it out.

-Thought it was interesting Dawkins decided to randomly take CJ Walker out of the starting lineup and put Adams (who’s been pretty awful this season) in. Especially considering Memphis is the best rebounding team in the conference (one of the best in the nation). Walker was in the game pretty much right away (like three minutes in), after Memphis had already collected a few offensive rebounds. UCF doesn’t win that game without Walker tonight, his energy and presence was fantastic.
-Memphis was disorganized, turned the ball over like crazy, and couldn’t shoot it at all, but that’s as big/long/physical and athletic of a team as UCF will play this season. Impressive win tonight, those were some serious athletes on the other side.
-I’m concerned a bit about how UCF closes games out. Memphis was pressing and trapping at an incredibly hectic and rapid pace, so the turnovers will happen. But this is the third or fourth time this year we have fouled like crazy with a lead. Completely unacceptable, some of that fouling late with a big lead HAS to be cleaned up.

I'm not normally one to call out the refs but there were a lot of non-calls against Memphis when they were pressing in the second half. Only to have UCF called for a foul on a similar play on the opposite end. In my opinion, our guys fought through the refs as well as Memphis.

A plethora of interesting people at the game:
1) Penny and Larry Brown....I couldn't even recognize Larry Brown. He's 81 and looked every bit of it.
2) BJ Taylor was sitting in front of us
3) Nick Anderson was sitting in front of us.
4) A contingent of NXT wrestlers, including Parker Beaudreaux and Cal Bloom.
5) Some Memphis fan (lady) was sitting behind us and screaming the entire game. It was one of the most impressive, annoying, screeching noises I have ever heard come out of a human being, and she did it all game long. Even BJ and Nick were giving her the stink-eye. BJ even came over to us and apologized. I've been to hundreds of concerts and I'm a metalhead. My right ear is ringing more than it would at a Slayer concert. So glad we won to shut her up.

Team played with energy and passion. Diong has become the team leader. Walker played his @ss off. Green was working to get open and being aggressive. A nice moment was when Walker was waiting for the ref to give him the ball to inbound and he stuck his hand behind his back and let three kids give him five.

Yeah we flipped on on how to handle a press near the end (just sloppy) and crazy given our talent level.

I noticed that Johnny had the freshman point (Johnson) driving to the basket to create and it was working! (along with the 3 ball).

All forces showed up last knight to get this win! Coaching, Players, and shooting!

Totally! We would barely touch them and FOUL CALLED! They were HACKING us and barely a call.

That was his best game so far. If he can adjust to college game by tournament time we can be good. He shoots a little odd but made 2 three pointers I think.

We needed to be hot from 3 to win that game. FTs weren’t so good and too many turnovers.
Memphis missing some FT's too helped. CJ finally made a few free throws at the very end! Some of the turnovers just freak me out! I mean just slow down a bit, help each other out! With that type of high pressure environment...what do I know! :)

Yeah luckily Memphis is young and free throws aren’t their strong suit.
