MBB: Wed UCF at Temple 7pm. ESPN2

They beat Vandy and Penn. lost to Clemson, Boise and USC. Some decent opponents there. The rest were scrubs.

UCF has seemed to struggle in Philadelphia historically, but Temple is not a great team this year. They currently rank 9th in the AAC in Offensive Rating, 9th in Defensive Rating, and 10th overall in net rating. They also rank 9th in the AAC in FG%, 10th in 3PT%, and 10th in assists.

If UCF can limit their turnovers, I think this is a very winnable game. I guess you never know, but with UCF’s experienced roster, I would think coming away without a win tonight would be pretty disappointing.

I agree it’s winnable but with everyone playing different teams, AAC rank right now doesn’t mean anything.

Really terrible the first 7 minutes. Poor shooting ball moving is not good, turnovers. Looks like their first game. Johnny needs to get their attention

7 minutes left in the first half and we have 6 points. Someone needs to hit a shot to wake this team up. Thank goodness Temple isn’t playing much better.

This is difficult to watch. Hopefully they get back to playing to their potential in the second half.

Obviously the guys shot it better (a lot better) in the second half. But I’m pretty displeased with the team’s leaders tonight. Diong and Perry were in foul trouble all night. Both guys committed selfish fouls, and didn’t tighten things up nor adjust whatsoever when they were in trouble. Both guys fouled out early, and then Green Jr fouls a three point shooter twice on consecutive possessions late in the game (cardinal sin), and he fouled out.

Pretty inexcusable. Need to tighten things up before FSU Saturday.

Have to blame Dawkins for having them in then in foul trouble. After Diong we have no one. Reynolds us terrible and Mobley has to be hurt. Barely sees floor.

How do you blame Dawkins for “having them in”. Perry only played 12 minutes in the game because of foul trouble. He committed five fouls in 12 minutes? You’re blaming Dawkins for the best player on the floor (Green Jr.) fouling three-point shooters when your up double-digits late?
Give me a break.

We won because, in the 2nd half, we made our shots and just as important we played our game (up tempo, press with strong defense, hit the boards and fought for the loose balls). We didn't do that in the 1st half. It was truly a tale of 2 halves. If we're going to challenge the best teams in the AAC, Johnnie needs this team to be ready to play the entire 40 minutes the way we did the last 20 minutes tonight. Let's hope the light bulb goes on....

Agree with all that, 100%.
I was responding to the previous poster who thought it was Dawkins fault our players were fouling too much.

I wasn't able to watch the first part of the game and tuned in right when Temple got the double technical and we went up by 14. My observation was that Temple players looked smaller and were dog tired at that point.

Next game:

DEC 18 (SAT) 3:30 PM
FSU
SUNRISE, FLA. / BB&T CENTER

Not talking Green. Talking our only Center that does anything playing with 7 minutes to go and he has a hard time controlling his body. You wait until 3 minutes left to put guys in that have 4 fouls.

Does it really take Johnny a whole half before he tells the guys, .....look, if you can't hit 3s, start driving to the basket!!!!! If Temple wasn't worse than us, we would have lost that game last knight.

You left out the part about not driving to the basket in the 1st half when we couldn't make 3s or any other jumpers. At 7 minutes, Johnny should have called a time out, and in a fired up voice say, guys, we have to drive to the bucket to make something happen!!

Let me know when UCF has a player like this on the team again...

Tacko was fun but Taylor was a stud!
