“There were meetings at the Justice Department in which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment,” Mr. Pelley said. “These were the eight days from Comey’s firing to the point that Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel. And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the president.”

and declaring a National Emergency to stir up fear and paranoia is straight out of the Authoritarian playbook. but it seems the goalposts on what is the line crossed with his own party keep moving despite warnings from Mattis, McCabe, and others.

This is the same FBI that we now know entered into a quid pro quo with the State Department to downgrade their language involving HRC's criminal actions.

These guys had some extremely bad apples running things and hopefully that's now being cleaned up.

There have been 58 national emergency's declared since 1979. 28 are still active. W did 13, Obama 12, and Clinton 17. It isn't anything new or unusual.

The fact McCabe is not in prison is a disgrace to America. The FBI loses credibility everyday he walks free.

BREAKING NEWS: EX-FBI DEPUTY DIRECTOR ANDREW MCCABE LOSES APPEAL TO AVOID CRIMINAL CHARGES
by Kevin Ryan

Deputy Attorney General Jeff Rosen has told former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe that his appeal against possible criminal charges against him has been rejected. The rejection may pave the way for an indictment of McCabe, who the Justice Department’s Inspector General determined made false statements to federal investigators about his disclosure of information to a journalist in 2016.

McCabe was fired without receiving a pension by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions in 2018 after the IG concluded McCabe ”lacked candor” including under oath when questioned about the incident.

Actually, that was all the Justice Department and HRC's lawyers. The FBI had nothing to do with it, although the FBI is at the mercy of DoJ appointees and politicians.

Even Comey continues to state how pissed off he is at the DoJ when it came to taking power away from the FBI, and how no other law enforcement -- let alone intelligence agency -- can trust the FBI not to be prevented from 'doing its job.'

Like surveying the damage from 'classified spillage.'

These guys had some extremely bad apples running things and hopefully that's now being cleaned up.
Again, don't blame the FBI for the DoJ and its appointees.

The FBI has been and will continue to be an organization of law enforcement with the utmost integrity who don't do it for the pay, but are at the mercy of the DoJ and their appointees.

I'm glad they are finally 'cleaning house.'

Had Comey not entered the politician game and leaked information, he'd still be there today. His name was getting trashed by the left, and then he really screwed up. He was fired because an independent review pointed out he leaked information and must be fired.

Had nothing to do with Trump. And I still respect Comey.

Trump is nothing compared to the Obama administration in this regard.

Thank our Founders the courts finally declared Obama's "anti-militia" BS illegal.

He also jumped out in front of the DOJ with his press conference saying that he could find no intent and no precedent to charge based on lack of intent. To determine whether to charge is not the FBI's job, that's the DOJ. Let's also not forget that Comey opened an investigation and authorized the use of counterintelligence assets and techniques on a Presidential campaign based upon information that first wasn't verified and then decided that it didn't need to be verified and most probably knew that it was fabricated information. We should not be "spying" on campaigns and, if we do, then it should be done with the utmost of integrity and diligence. This was not nearly at that process level and Comey is the final authority that should've demanded that they do it the right way. He did not, and that should've been more than enough to justify his firing, leaks or not.
