Is it too late to declare a medical redshirt status for Holman, Akins, and other key players who have been injured this season? Hate to lose a yr of eligibility on a year that has been completely lost. Maybe keep rolling with Bo/Tyler/Patti and our current group of WRs and RBs and get the some experience. What are people's thoughts on the matter?

I don't see what people see in Akins. Not saying he isn't talented, but as far as a WR, he's slow and he's got so-so hands. Don't understand the fascination with a 24 year old converted TE.

I agree that Akins has lost the speed he seemingly had before playing for the Texas Rangers organization. He's still an easy target, was comfortable running the routes and had better hands than last year. Im not sure if he's still young enough to improve his speed, but as i mentioned on another post Brandon Marshall wasnt necessarily that fast in 2003 but still made the NFL regardless.

I kind of agree with you. Why waste a year (0-12) and risk more injury if we could keep them for next year.

Holman should apply for a medical redshirt. Let Bo and Tyler play out the year. It was a dumb decision to burn Bo's redshirt like that imo when you have Tyler, Mr Wild Knight and Dinovo to run the team for you.

I agree. It was a bad decision just like starting Dinovo over Holman (too late in the Penn St game)

Brandon Marshall was clocked at 19.5 MPH on a route this weekend I believe. I'm guessing that's a good thing.

I feel Akins should be moved to TE. I think he fits there perfectly as a receiving TE.
I think he would be more effective as a TE than as a WR because he doesn't have the speed to separate from DBs. He can outrun a LB any day, but some of these kids playing corner and safety in this conference are legit sub 4.3 athletes.

Our team is so bad that not even burning a redshirt could get us a win...and now its wasted.

I remember him getting caught from behind on flea flicker play against Virginia Tech in 2003. His speed was questionable.
If there's hope for Brandon, there's hope Jordan will work on his speed.

Play Holman. We need SOMETHING here. Have to stop this bleeding if at all possible.

He comes in, we win some games and it "looks" like improvement during the season and 0 change at the end of the season in coaching.
