Fresh from a two-hour "listening session" Friday, University of Massachusetts Senior Vice Provost John McCarthy said students made clear the need for change. They want Missouri to get to 10% black faculty by 2017-2018 school year. Most other schools dont have 10% black faculty.

Black students apparently do better in class when they can relate to a teacher who looks like them.

I'm 1/16 black on.my mom's side. That's less than ten percent. So I'm out.

Unsubstantiated rumors of fecal swastikas, racial slurs, and the presence of the KKK, and a "hunger strike" by the son of a railroad magnate and now this? Mizzou is one f*cked up school. Are they seriously brainwashed?

We'd like to hire you, but you have the wrong color skin.

Say that to a white person - AOK
Say that to a black person - The wrath of Obama, Holder, Jesse and Al will rain down on you.

Not saying I agree at all, but why would they be unqualified?
It doesn't mean black people are unqualified, it means that in a situation where there is two candidates, 1 person (no matter the color) and 1 black, no matter which is the top candidate, there is a 50% chance of a less-qualified person getting the job due to skin color.

If the black person is the best candidate, great, that percentage point goes up a bit and you get a great faculty member and you are not racist.

If the best candidate is the other person but you are required to hire the black person, your percentage point goes up but the quality of work potentially goes down and you are not racist.

If the best candidate is a white person, and you hire the white person your percentage point goes down, but you get the best quality of work of the 2 candidates and you're labeled a racist.

"There's a difference in the learning experience that you have when you're learning from someone you believe you can identify with more closely," said Micah Oliver, 21, president of the Black Student Association at the University at Buffalo.

There is your problem. These pusswad nitwit losers are more focused on WHO is teaching them rather than WHAT they are being taught. I also wonder how many of these kids involved in this "movement" are there for worthless liberal arts degrees? Or will that be their next injustice rallying cry - that they hired black professors but not in the correct majors?

This is college, not kindergarden. It shouldn't take being able to "identify" with your professor in order for you to learn the material and advance your knowledge of whatever you're studying.

This is supposed to be when these kids turn into adults and grow a pair in preparation for the real world. Instead these spoiled shits are just trying to insulate themselves, put a diaper on everyone, and make society bend down to their flawed and ridiculous expectation of the real world.

South Park absolutely nailed these twats in their Safe Space episode.

Agreed, and I think the 10% faculty is ridiculous by the way. With that being said certain industries have created the diversity problem for themselves. Most reasonable people feel companies should be able to hire the best person for the job. For decades that was not done however, which in itself led to there being less diversity. Women, Blacks, Asians, Hispanics etc, were all passed over at times for less qualified people. The quality of work suffered and yet many companies didn't care.

I certainly wasn't offended at the middle-eastern, african, asian, female and cranky old man professors I had in engineering classes. They certainly didn't deter me from learning. I couldn't "identify" with any of them. What a crock.

All my computer science classes were taught by Indian professors. I couldnt identify with them so thats probably why I didnt do as good in those classes.*

My classes with Hoon Park at UCF were horrible. He projected his Koren'ism all over me! I couldn't even remember my name!!

I'm trying to figure why anyone takes them seriously. They were caught lying and should be expelled. This is a public institution that is owned and paid for by tax payers. Why weren't any of these ignorant students, black and white arrested for trespassing when they said only black students could be in certain areas?

All my classes were taught by smart people. I'm dumb and didn't feel as though it was a safe space for the stupids. I want UCF to have ten percent dumb dumbs by 2018. And miracle whip, dumb people love miracle whip.
