Monday night could be a watershed moment in UCF Sport's History!

Also I didn’t realize that these initial rounds of the women’s tournament are actually played at the higher seed’s home court. I thought this just happened to be the regional site but it’s not.

Also, there’s a lady that must be near the announcers that annoyingly squeals every time UCONN scores. Those poor ppl in her section man, god…

Great comeback, but can’t make free throws. I’d have to believe the crowd has played a factor in that

Free throws….free throws…10/20. 14-15/20 and that game could go either way.

We just had nothing on offense. If we had one player that could create just a few buckets on their own, that team could have advanced. Oh well, they played hard, and had to play them on their home court, which is inexcusable that the tournament is letting that occur. Nobody on the first weekend should be playing a home game. Tennessee was playing a home game prior to our game.

10/20 versus 18/23

So yeah hit your free throws win the game.

Look the ladies did Excellent. UCONN was 16.5 pr favorite they smoked that. A little more offense and they can consistently make noise in the tournament.

Lots of home cooking from the crowd to the refs. They turned it around in the 4th after home team was up 12 tired to make it look fair. But they really helped uconn climb back in it when they were in the drought for FGs.

That's how women's tournaments work, the top seeds play at home in the first weekend.

Play in neutral sites and you will get half empty stadiums if that. The game was sloppy and terrible to watch, miss layups all over the place. However, with a loud frenzy crowd it made the game look better on TV.

Play in neutral sites and you’ll have more upsets. Several games yesterday decided by just a few points, home team squeaking it out

Of course, but the sport and university's can't afford to make the games neutral. Same reason why baseball, softball, soccer, ect has better seeds host postseason tournament games.

They could require universities to divert funds from football to have higher budgets for women's basketball.

Why can’t the lower seeds host?

I guess that question should be posed to NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, and some college football conferences like AAC as well for postseason games. Is the goal for more upsets?

As for Men's basketball the idea of having it on neutral sites likely has more to do with the need/want to have it in venues that have 15k-20k capacity to maximize profit vs. not wanting to give home court advantage. Just like Bowl games, they don't play bowl games in Florida because they are trying to promote neutral sites games. They just know in general that is the best chance to maximize profit.

Coach Abe was not happy about being sent to UCONN again, not that I can blame her. Game was great but so frustrating with the fouls called in the second quarter in particular. They showed a lot of fight though!
Agree. One-sided fouls were excessive. But proud of the ladies for putting up a great fight; and congratulations on a great season.

Having schools host keeps the game affordable. Letting teams earn the ability to host makes the most sense.

Like Coach Abe said in the post game presser...HEY POSSIBLE TRANSFERS...See how hard UCF plays and can compete! We were just one great offensive player away from beating UCONN last night.

I enjoyed this year with Women's basketball, i watched when I could and this is the best team they ever had. Got to talk some smack with gator peeps as well. Beating UCONN was going to take a miracle and it almost happened last night. Go watch that post game presser, their coach was not happy even with a win. His quote of 'don't know how we won that game' tells it all. They are use to winning every game by 40 points and last night they got punched in the mouth.

I imagine, UCF needs to hold on to Coach Abe as she is a great coach and on an upward trajectory.

Go Knights.

Excellent post. The girls were a lot of fun to watch this year and made up for the lackluster season on the men’s side.
I had tickets for MBB this season but found myself watching WBB whenever I could.
Gotta keep Coach Abe.
