- Must win rewarded UCF by returning to 6th place (UConn loss knocked us down to 7th).
- Despite Tank out injured, UCF did it all with its five starters, and with a surprising press at times.
- Banyard had a monster games: 4-4 on 3's (that's 7 threes in 2 games), a late drive down the lane for a layup, 18 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. When Tacko's out, Nick is defending the basket like a center. Then he's a guard nailing 3's on offense or rotating the ball for teammates' open shots.
- Funniest moment at the end: Tacko wind up with the ball to dribble out the clock. But after two bounced, he thought time had expired, so he starts walking off the court with the ball. Ref calls traveling with 6 seconds left. Stoic Dawkins breaks into a laugh.
- AJ snapped out of his funk with a double-double (16 pts, 11 rebounds) plus 3 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal. I think he's much more comfortable playing in a full-court pressing defense (three half-court driving dunks the past two games). Even his looping 3's were going in.
- As Dawkins said in the post game interview, we're best when there's balanced scoring, and there sure was tonight: I was so proud of the team, responding to every run by Tulsa by playing even tougher defense, stood up to Tulsa's full-court press, and stepped up the offense more.
- Out shot a good shooting team 52% to 30%, made 58% of our 3's (11/19), 40 vs 28 rebounding edge, 12 assists, and 8 blocks (5 by Tacko).
- After splitting games vs. Houston, Tulsa, and Memphis by defending our home court (and playing SMU and UConn close here), we have 3 of the last 4 games on the road against teams we've already beaten handily at home.
- In a week and a half, it's hated Cincy for our last home game. Revenge?
- If we finish 3-1, have a good chance of finishing 5th (or even 4th) in AAC and getting that bye.
