Mt. Everest: How many Sherpas will climbers kill?

Hmmmmmm, make a bunch of money or feed my family rocks for dinner?

Tough choice.

Yeah, nothing like rich American guy making you hoist a 200lb bag up the side of Everest so he can cross it off his bucket list. Seems ethical to me.*

To answer that question UCFOleboy, consider all those situations in which your current visual reality is veridical.*

If you believe "climbers" enslave Sherpas, then you need to check yourself into a mental hospital.*

NPR did a great story on this here, and I'm conflicted on where exactly I stand on the practice. However, that being said, I think the government can afford to pay out a LOT more than just $400 per dead Sherpa. Also, the companies that pay the Sherpas and the government that benefits so much from the tourism they facilitate could do a better job of paying them more in general considering how dangerous a job it is.

My friend took a hike around Everest last year when the ice shelf collapsed and killed a few people, mostly sherpas. He had just hiked past base camp a few days before, and one of his friends had stayed behind because he was going to attempt the climb. Lucky for him and his friend they werent affected by the avalanche. He said it was sick to see some of the ice stained red when he had to hike back down a day or 2 later.
