That's the Modern NFL. They actually wanted to reduce his carries this season because he is one of the most effective backs in the league per touch (caveated by some kind of analytics on how many carries he can have until the effectiveness tapers off). It sounds retarded but that is a reason Del Rio gave for his reduced number of carries.
