From 2007 to 2014...
W-L record:
10-3, 11-3, 12-1, 4-8, 10-3, 10-3, 9-4, 9-4
That's one bad season in the last 8 years.
Three different coaches within that time, 2 have moved on to bigger gigs and the current one was able to come in and keep the program moving.
I bring up this mystery program because this is where we need to be. Where a new coach can come in and utilize our talent and recruiting. Granted O'Leary never left for other opportunities, but we can't just let him pick when he wants to go and watch what he built completely get destroyed. The on-field performance is horrid, but the recruiting is somehow worse.
The mystery program is Cincinnati - Tommy Tuberville took over for Butch Jones (Tennessee), who was there when Brian Kelly (Notre Dame) left.
Unless we get into a Power 5 where we'd have a chance to afford to keep a coach, this is the most optimal reality we can hope for that despite the turnover, we can have a good product out there year after year.
We need to start this process NOW. This needs to be George's last season.
