Its done at every level. As long as not already engaged with someone else.I respect the Academies but do not like them being allowed to play in a Conference. Those chop blocks can hurt a Defense not for just 1 game but the next week as well. Ask any Dlineman
What was Navy coach wearing on neck?

Yes! Good guess!Any credit for calling this?
I think Houston would have been. However the cards were stacked against them. Strength of schedule and preseason ranking gives them no chance for one screw up.Navy was never going to be in the playoffs. They would have been ranked 5th or 6th at the end of the year. They'll be in the same bowl game with this loss as they would have with an undefeated season. Their fan base is not nearly big enough to warrant the playoffs.
Another great reason it's great we don't play Navy this year (or Memphis, who just beat Temple).

That's not the most embarrassing part. Today's ESPN power ratings report that USF is now strongly favored to win the conference, while Houston has fallen to about 2-1 odds against (perhaps because they also have to get by all the better teams in the AAC in their division). How far will UH fall? I guess around 18. If they were SEC probably 10 or 11.
I doubt it. The play clock is for the offense. They can't roll the clock and say you can't run a play while its counting down. Defense has to make changes in a hurry or don't make them.Doesn't anyone but Michigan have any defense in college football?? You can bank on it that the NCAA will be making major rules changes to lessen the advantage of no-huddle offenses to wear out defenses in any single drive.
For example, not placing the ball down to be snapped until the first 12 seconds of the play clock has elapsed. That would give the defense time to shuffle in fresh players appropriate for down and yardage, let the defense to catch a breath, and still give the QB a chance to change the play at the line or run plays with lots of time left.
If they can raise and lower the mound, juice the ball, change the time between pitches, and bring in fences in baseball; and similar tinkering with every other sports, they can EASILY end runaway scoring. And they will. Why? Because the P-5 dominates by wearing down less-talented opponents. A no-huddle offense neutralizes that advantage and actually penalizes teams with the biggest, baddest 5-star linemen. That's why the P-5 will intercede and get their way!I doubt it. We're the only major nation with "service academies" despite every study proving that ROTC does just as good a job. Another waste of taxes, just like all the military bands.Playing Navy hurts you the following week due to prepping for for the triple option for a week and guys getting banged up due to their blocking. I cant remember where I saw it, but someone did a study on the win/loss records of teams the week after they play Navy.

Those things you mention are akin to making it easier to score. Not the other way around. So with 10 seconds to go all you have to do as a defense is act like you want to change personnel and the clock runs out. Makes no sense. If they can raise and lower the mound, juice the ball, change the time between pitches, and bring in fences in baseball; and similar tinkering with every other sports, they can EASILY end runaway scoring.
