Am I the only one that thinks our fight song sucks? There is nothing exciting about it. I can't see how anyone can find it uplifting. It's time for a new song.

AS a former musician, our fight song is great and distinctive, not a "borrowed" melody that had been used for years prior! (Univ of Minnesota's Fight Song, if I recall)

I agree it is different but it is so muted. It does not exactly get me on my toes.

For a school our age to have a fight song that is as recognizable and known is a pretty cool thing. Overall most fight songs are lame. I think UCF's is above average especially as it breaks into the chant.

Yes, our fight song borrows from the University of Minnesota. But overall it is a very unique piece of music especially when you compare it to other fight songs. For example, Georgia's fight song is I've Been Working on the Railroad lol.

Oh Christ, here we go now...new school name, new unforms, and now we need a new fight song (rolls eyes).
How the hell is a new fight song going to make the new freshmen play better and lead to wins???? In my day we just
went out there and won one for the Gipper. Didn't need no stinkin fight song. This isn't football, it's wussyball

Really? I just listened to it. Sounds nothing like ours.

Yeah. Ron Ellis who wrote it borrowed elements from Minnesota's Rabble Rouser. But enough was changed that you really can't tell all that much. UCF's fight song is really unique and different from most old arcane fight songs. I personally love it and it was always fun to play.

Don't think that is accurate. Initial fight song was exactly Minnesota's tune. The new band director wrote entirely new song to replace it.

1881. That's the year of 1 of the 5 Yale fight songs was written. I don't know when your day was, (win one for the Gipper was the same year the Notre Dame fight song was copywritten, 1928- tho Australia claims they've been using it in the late 1800's) but fight songs are hardly new.

Second, one point Frost made was that we haven't been around long enough for traditions- it's about time we made them and kept them. Keep the fight song.

Fight songs have to be timeless by nature. They cannot be linked to any one period in time (i.e. hip hop, rock etc). Our fight song is just fine. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to get a consensus on a new song at this point. These things have to be done while the program is in its infancy or it would be really hard to change.

Really?

New, offensive-minded coach.
New, custom-unique uniforms.

Not enough?
Really?

But what do I know?
I'm sure I'm a nuthugger to some for even saying this.
