TMo will surprise all of us and announce our new HC on Monday. This has been a done deal for the past two weeks. Charge On!!!

The football program needs a total rebuild from the bottom up. If Terry decides to keep the Malzahn staff mostly intact we’re destined for several more years of failure. He needs to avoid an in-house appointment, hiring any of his old retread buddies, or anybody else that has any past connection to him or the Malzahn coaching tree. This is a true opportunity for UCF to step up to the plate and make a defining hire that announces to the college football world that we are going to be a contender, not a pretender. Come on Terry, do the right thing this time and shoot for the moon!

My worry is that Malzahn agreed to leave by resigning rather than having to be fired as long as Terry agreed to making an in house hire, rather than bringing in an all new coaching staff.

If you mean we need a fresh start I agree, I would prefer and outsider and mostly new coaches. This program doesn't need a total rebuild. Financially we are in the best place ever, same with facilities and soon to be built facilities. I am intrigued by a couple of names, Andy Kotelnicki Penn State OC, Tulane head coach,

If UCF wants to go the coordinator route from a familiar place like 2016

That would be another to look at for sure. I Think an Offensive pick is in our best interest, Has to be someone who can run program and pick right coaches. Ideally the new coach will not take Coordinator spot himself. Gus was right about that, Head coach is mainly management position today.

I mean of the coaching staff only. Our facilities, etc are awesome now and our finances should be attractive to potential hires.

There is not a single coach on this staff that should be retained.....
The only guy that I would retain would be Hinshaw. I would give him at least 1 more year because he is a HOF alumni and that would buy him a year during the transition.

I’m up for a top down rebuild if it means we improve. This next year is going to be wild with the roster caps. The average roster size for Big10 and SEC school is roughly 125-130 with a few outliers like Ohio State and Nebraska having 140-160 players. The portal will be packed with players this year so a coach should be able to snag some talent. A lot of these players will be deeper in the depth chart but they should be decent. UCF needs to focus on their OL & DL first and foremost.

I just wonder how this all happened so fast. Gus resigned and the same weekend Terry says the new coach will be announced on Monday. This had to be in the works for weeks if any outside candidates were interviewed. Otherwise it’s an in-house hire.
I hope they did a search because I’d hate to see us fire coaches at the rate of USF!

No F'in way should we retain him.....we had ZERO QB development since he got here. He had his alumni chance, we now need to upgrade that position coach.

How cute a Tulane fan trying to deny the obvious......forgetting we have been there done that. Their HC won't be in the Easy next year.
Maybe he stays bc there is some guilt bolting after 1 year. But also in this new CFB environment Coaches may want to get out of the G5 asap

I’ll be honest I haven’t watched enough of any rumored candidates to even know what would be considered a great hire

I am a little confused about the Kinne love w 5 losses
Yeah, like Chadwell this year we are one year too late to get on the hype train....LOL

Speaking of the hype train, when is Sanders going to take our job? Or Gruden?

Sumrall won multiple conference titles at Troy St, and has Tulane in the title game this year despite having to break in new QBs.

I don't really look at wins and losses per se for such a small sample

Experience means a whole lot both good and bad. I'm very confident Frost would have us back on top in 2-3 years. Moving Kinnie up to the big leagues is like taking a maiden and putting him in a 500 K claimer race. In other words, expect us to the bottom feeders for the foreseeable future

This is such crazy talk.....the guy was fired 2.5 years ago, and hasn't gotten even a sniff at a HC job....for many good reasons. But I guess the Auburn Legacy job is now open here.....so flame on Johnny Storm

Frost is the right hire at the right time. He has had 6 losing seasons in 7 years, so the odds are in his favor to have a winning season at some point.
