It's the offseason...but been thinking about this for a while now and admittedly haven't been to a home game in like 10yrs (don't live in Orlando anymore) but do we still do this every home game or just on select games?

(P.s. this is one of the better clips I found, most are not this good)

If not every game, it should be. If so, this needs to be upgraded in the Big12. Sorry but the white horse and golden knight (in his armor that a cosplayer can make over the weekend) are a bit outdated. The white horse just screams cute/innocent. It's like seeing a horse in the county fair. Doesn't help that the knight gallops at a mild speed. I would love a more modern, badass black knight (with updated armor) on a black stallion galloping at full speed when Zombie Nation starts to play. FSU, in their own unique way, pulls this off and it's mainstay and gets featured on TV every time they play. I think I've seen our horse once on TV. Not trying to us with FSU but, you know...not many schools with horse mascots/entrances...

If this can be modernized/pulled off right in 2023, it can create a lot of hype during home games and actually be featured more on TV. We should take advantage of our horse/knight mascot and do something cool and unique, not just have them there just cause & and not modernize it. We're still a young school, it's fine to refine things...we don't have to be married to the white horse and old looking knight galloping and not really doing all that much.

Feel the same. The horse/knight could easily look better.

Just google image search things like: Black Knight Horseback & Medieval Black Knight for examples:

I don't know sometimes you can try to hard. To be honest the zombie Nation part of the opening has become our real trademark opener. The stadium rocking and bouncing above and below is the most intimidating thing we do. No matter what the knight looks like, nobody is taking it too seriously so I think it is fine. The addition of knugget was fun too. The kids love it.

I get that and agree to a degree...our main thing has become the BOUNCE house and Zombie Nation (and it works), but let's add a bit more flair, let's up the ante. Nothing wrong with having more GOOD things. And yes, I like Knugget too, we can keep Knugget for when the kidos get scared of the big black knight.

Want to add that OKST has a horse named bullet and mini horse named b-b making their pregame looks a bit like ours.

I agree that it is time for an upgrade for this costume and rider...Hopefully in time for 2023 in the Big12...We are no longer 'Golden Knights' so no need for costume to be in gold. I would prefer pewter color armor that looks more intimidating...The older costume was made by Disney, and was smaller, requiring female riders...

Great topic, I just posted a poll in the dungeon to see what the opinion is there...
So, after a few days, there were 91 votes...
yes, it is outdated and needs a refresh 23 votes 25.3%
No, leave it the way it is 51 votes 56%
Get rid of the Knight on horseback 17 votes 18.7%

Maybe post a poll here?

I want to see some flaming arrows launched from the corner of each endzone ignite a Lighter Fluid soaked UCF logo at midfield... Timed with a key portion of the band's music, and choreographed with the knight & horse (of course). Beats prancing around and giving fans the parade wave.

Since we are aiming high we may as wel have a Tupac hologram dancing on the score board as well
