New Screens

Would be cool :okay:

We never talk about it but if we increased the size of the stadium, could we compete for bowl games?

Brighthouse is already big enough for bowl games. 2x the size of Miami bowl or St pete. With 3 bowl games at citrus, I don't see it happening.

Not only is the new main football video board in North End Zone going to be almost 7 times larger than the previous one (641 sq ft to 4,104 sq ft), there will be a HUGE 7 ft high and 199 ft long new HD ribbon board above the South End Zone as well...helping those that sit in the North end zone that will be able to see something, vs the tiny score/time scoreboard that was currently there.

Also, the CFE is getting 2 new video boards as well:

A new 8 sided (4 main panels that will be 14.5 ft high and 17.5 ft wide, plus 4 corner displays), and a new 270 degree ribbon board that will ring the seating area below the suites and 2nd level sections...replacing the tiny permanent ad signs.

Also, new sound system will be installed in both BHNS and CFE Arena too.

Everyone should just "smile" when more ads hit on the screens...as those ads will help bring badly needed revenue into the athletic dept.

Hmmm, I wonder why they just didn't move the old video board to the south side. We really need a DJ up there. Gets the people going!

I'm excited all of this is happening. Not excited this is all happening right as I'm leaving the area. We needed these upgrades though, because the football scoreboard was very underwhelming.

Because its old (plus would need major supports installed in/around recruiting lounge), plus the new 199 ft long, 7 ft high HD ribbon board that will be installed above the South End Zone will be able to do/show so much more than the old tiny screen.

The old board on the South side was pretty embarrassing, like a little high school scoreboard. Glad it's being replaced also. All part of the process.

They already have bowl in stadium seating 45k and under (Boca Raton bowl) but it certainly doesn't hurt.

That board is almost 10 years old but I like the DJ idea. Better than hearing the same songs on repeat every game. But as of right now new uni's and video board is an awesome upgrade I can't complain

Citrus Bowl Commission won't allow UCF to host a bowl game. They are very aggressive in booking events since they don't have a regular tenant. They are getting EDC, neutral site games, HS All star games, bowl games, and possibly the NFL Pro Bowl if they win the bid in the next month.

Not True. The guys that started the Cure Bowl asked UCF to host it and UCF turned them down. After they signed with the Citrus Bowl UCF said they wanted them back, but it was too late.

if UCF wanted to steal 1 event from the Citrus bowl Commission they should try to grab EDC Orlando. I read that was a bigger money maker for them then any of the Football games. The campus is big enough for the stage setups, you got a huge student population in the vicinity, & it would be a big money maker for the small businesses , bars, & hotels On & surrounding campus.

I can't even imagine how much damage an EDC would cause to our campus physically. And I love the music so I'm not hating

I mean can we take FCS bowl games?

As good as FCS football might be, it doesn't draw well. The last national championship game where North Dakota State won their 5th straight national title, only drew just over 21k, and that set a record. Frisco, TX has the contract to host the FCS National Championship game through 2019. FCS does not play any bowl games that I know of.

That soccer stadium capacity is 21,000.

While some teams draw pretty well in Div I-AA (i.e. NDS, Montana, etc...), there is zero TV value of that division during the regular season. During their playoffs, because the Championship Game is played after Div I-A regular season is over...they attract some audience to make it ESPN's worth while.

Our son played for Southern Illinois, and it was tough to find games on TV. Regular season games are televised on Fox Sports Net, ComCast regional sports channels or ESPN3. ESPN3 is online only. If an FCS game isn't on one of those networks, then you usually have to go to the website of the home team to get the internet stream of the game. In spite of FCS being pretty good football, there just isn't much demand for these games. Maybe when Orlando City's stadium is complete, they could compete for the National Championship game.

Now that we will have giant screens will we get giant replays?
And in the CFE Arena, we might finally be able see something. On the downside, the kiss cam and all that hokey crap has got to go. And please fire the corny floor-jockey hawking boring promo contests with chinsy prizes. Note to Danny about changes: can't we make things a little classy? The team, cheerleaders, and dancers deserve at least that much.

Guys. FCS is Florida Citrus Sports. Their bowl games. Not Football Championshio Subdivision.
