New UCF coach Scott Frost on Open Mike radio at 8:35 a.m.

Hey, guys, Coach Frost will be on our Open Mike radio show at 8:35 a.m. in the morning. Post questions and I'll get to as many as I can. You can listen live on FM 96.9 or AM 740 or on-line right here: http://969thegame.iheart.com/onair/open-mike-40566/
Love the hire!
See you in the morning.

So far I've seen 2 negatives to his hiring. I'd be interested in hearing how he responds to his lack of head coach experience and how committed he is to the UCF program over a longer period of time rather than jumping ship to a power 5 school if he has immediate success.

Any preference in what defense you'd like to run? and does your up-tempo offense play a factor into this?

Will you host a women's football clinic?
Mike,

Please ask Scott how he plans to get
much better talented offensive lineman
and defensive ends. The past regime
didn't do well with getting bigs that could consistently run block for many
offensive schemes. Also, We really
need coaches who can land 6' 5""
250 pound defensive ends with speed who can rush the QB. Old regime never
produced any great talent at these 2
positions.

They might have played decent after being in the program 4 years but we
need talent that can come in here and
At least start making an impact as Redshirt Sophmores.

Welcome aboard coach Frost!

You have Frost first, you? Not Marc…you? Really would have enjoyed hearing Daniels interview him 1st considering HE is the voice of the Knights. There, I'm done…Go Knights!

Bianchi's show is on earlier and doesn't conflict with the press conference at 930a. I bet the ratings are higher at 835a since more folks are in their cars.

FWIW he had Danny White on first too.

Before choosing to accept UCF's offer, did you review film or scout the players on the Knights' current roster heading into 2016? If so, what players currently on the roster are you excited to coach?

I'd be curious to hear if he has had any interaction with the current roster?

Names are going on the jerseys. He said the jerseys have been a good recruiting tool in his experience. Frost will hire an OC, but will retain play calling "at least for the first few years." Standout thing he learned from Chip Kelly: "Attack" and keep attacking whether you're down, up or tied. Don't coach scared because the kids play best when they don't have to be "careful." He said UCF will be looking for "A few fast men" in recruiting and he reiterated how excited he is to recruit the state of FL. Bianchi asked a good question about whether he will immediately install the Oregon offense, or he will tailor the offense to the current talent - Frost said he thinks you are "foolish" if you don't tailor your style to the skills of the players currently on the roster.

We have Luke Adams. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Very impressed with him in the interview. He's got everything we've been asking for to re-energize this program and take it to the next level on the foundation of what GOL built.

Good recap. He also added that there is no secret sauce to winning without athletes. This guy is all about recruiting.

What was said?

Excellent interview...he's going t bring excitement (in the offensive side of the ball) to UCF...

Summary

he was surprised about Bianchi's fist question on uniforms...basically said that if that's our biggest concern it's easy to fix....he does want to take unis as far as possible as a tool and will put names on them...each player has a name they should be proud of....

definitely going with the Chip Kelly offense and will be in attack mode

gave props to multiple coaches who influenced him including Osborne, Kelly, Tomlin and Morris

will have an OC but will call plays himself to start...wants to get the high powered offense in place as soon as possible

understands that there's a lot of talent and speed in FL...he got a little excited when he said he wants fast guys and can find 'em here

also understands that initially he has to adjust his offense to current players and transition....did that from QB to QB in Oregon (before and after Mariota)....with Mariota they threw the ball more

will look at current staff before announcing new hires

mentioned intelligence as just as (or more) important as experience in a coach

impressed by UCF back in the day and he still runs into Duante occasionally and they talk

he wants to win immediately, including conference championships and feels he can do it here with the resources he'll have

overall, the guy seems to be a focused, straight shooter who expects to win....I just wish Bianchi had asked him about his thoughts on Defense

Also mentioned he's good friends with Ronde Barber... wonder if he can convince him to get into coaching. I always thought he'd be a coach or a play-by-play guy, very sharp dude.

That would be impressive. Having 2 former star athletes, one on offense and one on defense. The players would really be inspired playing for both these coaches.

Ronde is currently a play-by-play guy for Fox NFL. Probably making a nice salary for a lot less work than he would have to put in as a DC. However, all those connections with Barber, Monte Kiffin, Mike Tomlin, Raheem Morris, etc. could pay dividends in finding some bright young defensive minds that would jump at a chance on this staff.

What impressed me most about Coach Frost, when stressing his excitement about recruiting more talent from around Central Florida and the rest of the state indicated "We're Looking for a Few Fast Men." I so want this on a promo poster now.
