probably not. I'm not opposed to it but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing that I'll prioritize to the point of taking the time to do it

Are you getting the vaccine immediately? I'll probably do it assuming they are getting good results.
This question could only be asked on a predominantly Chud board. Anywhere else, the answer would be “duh.”

Lmao Shucky not realizing that the Anti-Vaxxers are mostly liberals. That’s hilarious. Talk to your own side because they are the ones who would rather their kid have polio than “Autism caused by vaccines”

Nobody should be judged for not getting a vaccine of any kind. It puts nobody at risk but themselves.

They were both stricken when the epidemic first hit—you know, kind of like what we’re going through right now while we’re waiting for a vaccine for COVID-19.

Do you think my Mother waited when the polio vaccine became available for her children?

No, and I'm glad she didn't. Thats conflating 2 issues though. If a person chooses to not vaccinate themselves, its not of our business because it only affects their body.

Why do you think polio disappeared back in the 1950s? And while we’re at it, why do you think polio is making a comeback?

Do you have any idea how vaccines work?

Yeah.......they help your body attain immunity from a disease without having to go through the effects of a disease. The more people get it the better, but it still only affects a person individually.

I didn't receive the pertussis vaccine like everybody else does. I got whooping cough when I was 30 and didn't pass it to anybody, because they were all vaccinated. Same goes for all vaccines, its not like the person who doesn't get vaccinated presents a risk to someone who has been vaccinated.

I didn't get the Polio or smallpox vaccine. I'm sure that you did. If I get either one of those diseases are you at risk of me passing it to you if we hang out?

Two types of polio have been officially eradicated off the face of this planet. The last remaining type was near eradication too but made a small comeback in 2019 thanks to the anti-vaxer bullshit that’s hit parts of this country.

FYI, only people who have not been vaccinated are at risk of catching it. Given the high percentage of the population that get vaccinated, your odds are low. But it explains why this deadly disease that was on the verge of eradication has seen a return.

"FYI, only people who have not been vaccinated are at risk of catching it"

Thanks for making my point.

Depends on what Trump says. It may magically disappear by then.

A vaccine is intended to create enough immunity amongst a populace to basically stamp out the virus. You need a very high % of a population to get that vaccine to create that herd immunity, otherwise you'll still have enough people without a vaccine that can catch and transmit a virus.

So it's really not true to say that someone deliberately not receiving a vaccine is only endangering their own body when in fact they are endangering others too by not participating in the building of community immunity. This is why we now have outbreaks of diseases that were thought to have been eradicated 20-30 years ago.

....to others that are not vaccinated or immune from natural infection. Either way, unvaccinated people pose no threat to those that are vaccinated. Prove me wrong.

Herd immunity is when the R/0 drops below 1. That doesnt necessarily mean a high percentage of the population has to be vaccinated or immune due to prior infection. It can be as low as 20%, which is what it looks to be with Covid. The disease will still be around, just like all diseases, but it will be contained to a static or dropping number of cases.

Not everyone is going to rush out for a fast tracked vaccine. You know the biggest anti-vacers are California hippies right?

I was going to say the same thing, Plenty of Far left are anti vacers. The all natural no drugs movement was far left.

Lol at people that get vaccinated being mad at others who don't get vaccinated because it puts them in danger.

Might want to think that one through.

I will get the shot, and wear a sign saying I have been vaccinated, so shut the hell up and leave me alone, I don't need no damn mask.
