The fact that they came up with the term "essential jobs" is pretty degrading to a lot of people.

The fact that they came up with the term "essential jobs" is pretty degrading to a lot of people.

On the morning of a big snow storm, the place where I used to work had a habit of telling TV and radio that we were closed and 'only essential workers needed to report for duty.'

So the day before we'd be forecast to have a storm dump a bunch of snow on us, I would make sure I made the rounds and tell my staff how essential I thought they all were to our organization.
