Nebraska's spring game isn't until May but an open invitation for fans to watch practice last Saturday drew 31,000 fans.

Of all the stupid shit you say on here, this may be the most ridiculous. 😂
If I would have said this season, you'd probably be right. I was talking about long term.

Being one of CFB's Bluebloods with a 90,000 seat stadium, sellouts going back to 1962, and membership in the Big Ten, I'd say it's a good bet that they are gonna be okay.

PS - And for the record, I like UCF's new coach better than Tennessee's new coach.

10 years and counting since the last top 20 ranking... and that was in the B12. None since moving to the B1G.

Nebraska hasn't been relevant since dial-up internet. They, along with Miami, are relics of a past that's quickly becoming a distant memory.

Put UCF in the B1G right now and I guarantee you our results are better than "blue-blood-with-90,000 seats" Nebraska over the next 10 years. Our Nebraska friends here might scoff at that idea and turn their nose up, but let's be frank: deep down they know that as a result of a now decades-long hiatus from college football relevance and really competing at a level that's anywhere close to where they were in the 1990s, there is damned little to draw a kid to Lincoln.

Nebraska was top 10 in 2011 when they went into the B10. Their game vs Wisco was a 7/8 matchup. They went to the B10 champ in 2012 as a 12 vs wisco too.

Finished 9-4 and ranked #24 in the AP and #20 in the BCS. Quite impressive if you are Louisiana-Lafayette.

The sellout streak is a lie. It is businesses and boosters buying up unsold tickets the last few years just to say the streak lives.
You're wrong -- as usual.

All the tickets have been sold. Yes, there are games where you'll see empty seats in the southeast corner of the stadium but those are not 'unsold' seats that businesses and boosters are buying up.

It is a student section (sold out before the start of the season) and sometimes -- believe it or not -- some students aren't up for an 11:00 in the morning game.

In recent years, the Athletic Department has threatened to cut back on the number of student tickets it sells if the students can't be counted on to always be there.

Nobody cares about where they were ranked preseason.

And forgive me for forgetting they went to a B1G championship game in 2012. The 70 points they allowed that day to unranked Wisconsin’s fabled offensive attack wiped that game right out of my memory.

Having grown up with Nebraska being a perennial national championship contender, that hurts. But it's hard to argue the facts.

Given their location in prime recruiting country, UCF could -- and should -- become a CFB Big Boy sooner rather than later. I'm still surprised the Big XII didn't take them a few years ago.

Harsh words, but the longer the program stays irrelevant, the harder it will be to return to prominence. However, the 'what's in Lincoln argument' has been around as long as there has been CFB. Rest assured, Nebraska's membership in the B1G ensures this sleeping giant will eventually wake up.

Ugh....that game still gives me nightmares.

You gotta have faith in your team, I get it. I’ve sat through to many shite years waiting for something to happen to judge anyone else.

Recruiting to Nebraska against Ohio state, Michigan, etc is probably the hardest part of getting back to the 90’s. We all know This Place can call a good offensive game against anyone. Also need to fix that defense (not that a current UCF fan has any room to talk about defense given the last few years). Good luck to the corn holes.

Surprise, surprise, you Chinander fans, Nebraska's defense is actually expected to be pretty damn good this season.

When all is said and done, the team's success hinges on how well the Husker OL plays this season. Once upon a time, (yes, waaaay back to the days of Tom Osborne) the Husker OL was always the strength of the team. Given the OL recruits Frost has attracted since he's returned, this year's OL could well develop into a dominant bunch. If this becomes the case, then maybe -- says this diehard fan -- just maybe, the Huskers could surprise a few teams this year on their long road back to CFB relevance.

Chins wasn't a bad coach for UCF. I think the problem with him was that he basically tuned out after he knew he was going to Nebraska. Some of the other coaches on the staff jumped all over his ass for doing that, BTW.

I think Nebraska’s membership in the B1G is one of the things holding them back.

They’re struggling to find any footing in the B1G, and to really return to national prominence they have to surpass (or at the very least be seen as the equal of) Ohio State. Standing between them and that level of success is Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, and at the moment... all the rest of the B1G.

They’ve gone in the wrong direction since joining the conference and it’s only getting worse. They don’t have an in into Texas for recruiting anymore. They don’t make sense in that conference and it’s doubtful they ever will.

Frankly, a "losing Nebraska" doesn't make sense in ANY conference.

But Nebraska has always been a Big Ten-acting school living outside the Big Ten so I'm not buying the "they don't make sense in the conference" argument. The one thing that has been true in college football is that you can't keep a Blueblood down. All of the Big Boys have had their down periods, but they've always come back.

Maybe you're right and Nebraska will be the exception, but I wouldn't put money on it.

High school seniors were not born at the time Nebraska was good.
Ugh. Trust me, you're not telling Nebraska fans something we didn't already know. :)
Tough to pull kids from Florida or Texas until Nebraska can reverse the decline. It will take a little time to get back.
Frost and your old UCF buddies have been able to pull some top-notch talent out of Florida.

The problem has been keeping them in Lincoln with a damn pandemic going on. But that's been true of all schools with out-of-state recruits. The departures for everybody during the pandemic have been higher than they had been.

Frost hasn’t landed a top 30 Florida prospect yet, according to Rivals.
