A bit ironic considering Germany is in the bottom 1/3rd of defense and equipment expenditures vs GDP in NATO. A lack of coordination with partners leading up to the pull out is definitely open to criticism, but these countries not being able to do an effective airlift without us shows how reliant some of these developed European countries have become on the US. Its one thing if a small country like Luxembourg has troubles, but the larger more capable ones have less excuses here. Spending Figures.

Which is why Trump attempted to pressure the NATO partners into actually meeting their commitments for once. Of course, the media screamed bloody murder about disrespecting our allies and making the world more dangerous. Maybe a Democrat would have better success not getting undermined back home. Unfortunately, this particular Democrat has no abilities left to be effective at much of anything.

Didn’t they leave 10-13 years ago? I remember our “allies” saying “good luck, we are out” a while back but maybe it was Iraq

Based on this page (if its accurate), there were still a fair amount of NATO troops there, with Germany the second most. But these numbers from 2017 before the larger drawdown show a different picture, with us still handling the brunt of the load. Its not entirely about troop numbers, but if the NATO countries don't have capabilities like heavy aircraft or logistical means to move/manage, then were likely to compensate.

Nope, they were still engaged. We've handled the brunt, but many NATO members have been committing dozens if not hundreds of troops.
