Even after the 11% drop, FL currently has 6x as many hospitalized people as NY. You can decline so much because of how awful you were. It's like a morbidly obese person bragging about losing 50lbs when they still weigh 300lbs.

Opened Florida early when the pressure was overwhelming. Allowed theme parks open quickly while California finally recently opened them. Florida allowed kids recreational activities early while commie states didn't. Hospitalizations are now diving down using his policies. Everything he does shows what a real alpha leader looks like. Thank you Desantis!

DeSantis sucks.

I have to be honest, I wasn’t a fan at first, but have come around

The way he got monoclonal antibodies throughout the state. Plus ivermectin , zpack and budesonide. I can guarantee you he had a big hand in that. Saved thousands of lives, prevented meltdown of hospital system

He basically realized correctly that the need for public COVID policy came to an end in April 2021. When vaccines were available to anyone/everyone who wanted one.

The States and local governments who continue to cling to COVID restrictions are doing so for their own partisan reasons. And it's backfiring for many of them.

You will be seeing this a lot during her next re-election campaign, no doubt.
I leave more and more of my ballot empty with every passing election.

Just so tired of the Elites and Politicians barking about laws they don't want to follow or enforce on their friends, just everyone else.

And the fact that they say things like "Hold Their Breath" is not just a joke, but considering arrests and fines ... sigh.

The “I’m not voting because I don’t like politicians” is just a cop out for not making a choice. If for no other reason, we need people to counter the Rock the Vote contingent.

I don’t know if you know this or not but he’s a libertarian. That’s what they do.

The “I’m not voting because I don’t like politicians”
I *DO* vote! I perform my civic duty! I just *REFUSE* to vote for a candidate that I don't at least 70-80% agree with. I will even write-in candidates. Sorry ... but I agree with George Washington, I *REFUSE* to vote party lines, because it leads to sh--ty representation!

is just a cop out for not making a choice.
You *DO* realize I spend 100x more time reading-up the voting history than 98% of voters?! I make 10x the 'informed choice' versus 98% of other voters.

Imagine if most people did what I did? Maybe we wouldn't have such sh--ty candiates? Hmmm ... just how the **** is that a 'cop out?'

I'd rather people take their civic duty more seriously, and stop voting party lines, but only candidates they 70-80% agree with. The system continues because we let this crap continue.

As always, we're losing our freedom because of the politicians aren't held accountable, and that's the fault of the *UN*informed voter.

And you think people like me are the problem?! Sorry, I will *NOT* vote for your 'team's' sh--ty candidate that is full of non-sense. I hold them responsible for their hypocrisy.

You can rather all you’d like but reality is reality.

Was it better in the 2020 elections and what came after?
Nope, both major parties had idiots for President. I voted the one candidate I agreed 95% with. I voted a few others, including 2 Republicans. I left almost all the rest blank, although I did write in one.

Both parties will continue to represent poorly as long as they can put up hypocrites and poor leadership, and get votes out of party alignment.

Serious question about Desantis and Florida politics in general. Has Florida really turned this far right, or are some of these politicans over stepping because they think they are more popular than they are? Desantis only won by 33 thousand votes, so it isnt like he dominated his election. Trump beat Biden by less than 4% and only beat Hillary by about 1%. Rick Scott won by less than a 1%. Is there any fear with Republican voters that they are going to push some of these things too are and end up losing? I know REpublicans have won a lot lately, but just barely. Florida is still a purple state, and it just seems like some of these social politics they are playing could run some voters off.

A lot of my friends from both political wings were happy with his stance on public school in-class and virtual "choice" at the start of the 2020-21 school year. It was interesting to see my staunch democrat friends all of a sudden drop the political banter once they realized their own party was pushing for full-time virtual learning, requiring their presence at home to support the kids... One of those moments where theory sounds good to people until its put into practice.

Add to that his stance on lighter hospitality restrictions, resulting in a much happier population. Certainly good enough for AOC to visit. I was shocked when that story broke (still am). And of course, one spectrum of political "news" tried to exploit it, while the other end ignored it completely, blatant bias... Wish Americans would wake up, ignore those outlets and put them out of business.

I am not really talking about covid, I am talking more about the dont say gay thing, the CRT thing, abortion , etc etc. Things that are more social conservative issues.

I have never considered Florida to be far right, but the way he is governing seems more like Tennessee or Alabama type politics, and I have just never considered Florida anywhere near as conservative as those states.

Why would you be shocked she visited? I mean, the vast majority of the country is open, so I am not sure why people are shocked someone traveled.

Did you read what that was really about?

You had a teacher and very pro-trans supportive parent who were communicating in complete support of the child. Then the administration and school board lawyers cut off the parent entirely, out-of-the-loop. Why? Lawyers and administrators.

That's why the law came about, that the school district can never, ever cut a parent out-of-the-loop, especially when the parent is utterly supportive.

the CRT thing
The left destroyed themselves on that with the supermajority of parents all on their own.

abortion , etc etc. Things that are more social conservative issues.
Abortion is always going to be a hot-button topic. Virigina being stupid, asserting things about a child outside the woman's body, just re-invigorated the right. Why? Roe v. Wade isn't about what a woman gets to decide outside her body.

I live in Alabama now. DeSantis is far from Alabama. He's extremely moderate and pro-freedom, pro-choice first ... other than on abortion. That's his one failing in my book.
