Speaking of Kavanaugh, and derailing the thread, it’s interesting that this group that violently broke through barricades to enter the Capitol expressly to obstruct a process of the Federal Government was never once portrayed as an insurrection or a threat to our Democracy. Nor were any of them actually prosecuted, or even held for months, for obstruction of a federal process like the Jan 6th arrestees. Even though that’s explicitly what they intended to do and accomplished to some degree. (My point, for those that are going to be dense about it, is that neither of these were an insurrection and the DoJ has given up their non-partisanship)

lol. You try really hard to portray people who stormed the Capitol and were subsequently punished for doing so in the most positive light possible. Are you saying I am doing the same for other terrorists? Because I’m not. You don’t have to stick up for Capitol building rioters just because you have the same MAGA hat.
Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. But every time you answer a “why isn’t everyone being treated the same” with “stop defending terrorists,” you’re gaslighting and downplaying all of the other groups. You also ignore the DOJ’s announcement that there was no coordinated effort to storm the Capitol building and thus no terrorist organizations pushing it. When you use language inappropriately and then only against one side and ignore egregious examples of the other side, you are supporting the side that you are ignoring.
As for sticking up for the Capitol rioters, I just want them to get the same penalties as all the other rioters. Not to be held in jail for months without charges or on unsupported charges by a DOJ that refuses to prosecute leftist activists for the exact same thing. Why must you continue to misrepresent this simple position?
You are painting with a broad brush here. Charges are specific to certain actions taken by certain individuals. And no the actions and circumstances surrounding the actions aren’t “the exact same thing”. Even within the group of people that you hate and the group you like, there have been varying charges levied.
You are the one posting about it and I am the one reacting to your post with a comment to stop supporting terrorism. If I tried to make every effort to portray Minnesota rioters in a positive light you might be inclined to make a similar comment to me. And it would be warranted.
Painting thousands of people as insurrectionists is also painting with a broad brush. Hundreds of organized protestors broke through a barricade in order to obstruct Kavanaugh’s hearing. Hundreds were arrested and few faced obstruction. Hundreds were arrested from 1/6 and hundreds are in jail awaiting trial on obstruction and charges to be named later. It’s a glaring difference.
Like I said. Stop supporting terrorism and we won’t have this problem. The situations weren’t exactly the same as you state. The charges aren’t the same. Without going into specific instances of cases where you think injustice is occurring, I’m afraid we will just go around in circles.

the problem I see is that you've allowed a the buzzword of "insurrection" and a hypothetical intent take root. were the hundreds of riots across the country by blm/antifa/leftists not for political aims?
if you can agree that they were, which is glaringly obvious to anyone who remembers the news cycle, you should at least be able to concede that the magnitude is pretty lopsided.

You forget Chuck Schumer threatening the court as well. The media and left are huge hypocrites. For months they turn a blind eye to the mostly peaceful protests as cities burn behind them,as the Federal Court House is fire bombed with employees inside and as people set up autonomous zones defended by semi-automatic weapons. What happened on January 6 was wrong . It was wrong. No ifs and or butts, storming the capital was wrong. Not going to defend it. charge whom ever with what ever law was broken. now ,to my left friends here , will you stand up and say the same thing about fire bombing the court house? Will you stand up and say the same thing about the chszz chopped zone stuff? will you say the same thing about burning car dealerships ,and hurting dozens of police officers?
As far as Kavanaugh goes . one I hope he recovers soon and the other is he got it a pool party back in 1981. I have friends who will testify they saw him not wearing a mask.
I think we are to the point that ceding the January 6 bullcrap needs to stop. We do that because it is right and we recognize that what happened wasn't OK, but the left uses that as evidence that the entire right is bad. They deny all of the left-wing violence so it gives them the sense of having the upper hand when we admit our sides failings.
There is no negotiating with these people any more. There is no way to rationalize things with them. All they see is blood in the water and we need to stomp them out because that is exactly what they want to do with us. Hell, they can't even say that only a woman can give birth, but they wouldn't think twice about having you taken to the gallows for saying otherwise. They are not rational people that have any respect for you or your life, so push back before it's too late.
Yes we will. The situations were extremely similar. Similar enough to see similar handling. Beyond that, storming the Capitol was wrong and I said that day and every other that people should be prosecuted. But it’s gone overboard when the federal government has played loose with due process. You feel all secure because you like them being persecuted and you feel fine not prosecuting the others because media made a big deal with one and not the rest. I know people personally that went to that rally and followed a crowd past a point, never entered the building, and got chased down weeks after. These were good people, people who love America and Democracy and never obstructed anyone or anything. But they’re in jail and they’re made out to be the same as Osama Bin Laden. It’s not even close to reality in a lot of these cases. Believe that or not, I don’t care.
Fine, we’ll agree to disagree and be done with it. But realize that you and yours may very well be on the end of that some day. When that day comes, I’ll be in your corner too.

Doesn’t hurt me at all to wear one. There’s not much other Covid information that is needed. If I get sick I’ll let doctors and medical professionals treat me.
