You don't think the main focus will be Russia? Then fighting inflation? I'm sure green energy will come up for a portion of the address. We should start the process of nuclear plants if we want green energy.
Russia will be part of it, but as a segue into green energy and BBB.

It’s going to be a campaign speech for the midterms. Taking credit for the economy growing since the lockdown lows, trying to claim a victory on the Vid, talking about the greatness of the infrastructure bill, and then making the argument that climate change and white supremacy are the primary threats to our country.

Oh, and a heavy dose of globalism propaganda emphasized by the Russian aggression.

Waiting to hear what actual support Biden plans to provide to the Ukraine front... Ukrainian citizens barricaded in subways don't give a sh!t about capturing Russian Oligarch yachts.

If we are supplying them weapons and intelligence, he’s not going to say it.

I don't watch these speeches , quit watching say 20 years ago with GW.. it's all bull crap . I want every kid born in 2001 to be driving flying cars by their 16th birthday . Blah, blah ,blah.

I am curious if you got rid of white supremacists would you also knock a dent in climate change? Burning crosses really increases one carbon footprint these days.

Here is the state of the union. we are $30 trillion in debt, inflation is rampant, we were more energy independent a year ago than we are now, half the country no longer trusts institutions like CDC and NIH, there is a strange labor shortage induced by COVID stimulus spending, the southern border is in shambles security wise and we are increasingly divided as a people . In short, it's bad .

Run it through the political spin translator ....
By 2030 every Honduran born today will live in an American town with a future bright and filled with rainbows. That's the dream of every dreamer ..dare to dream and why would anyone deny a dreamer of his or her or they dream?

There was a movement with at least some democrats to defund the police. To act like that didn't happen is disingenuous. Those defund signs were all over the protests/riots of 2020. Hell Minneapolis wanted to remove the police completely. Scary that only 56% rejected that nonsense.

"Approximately 56% of voters rejected a ballot question that would have removed the Minneapolis Police Department from the city charter and replaced it with a "public-health oriented" Department of Public Safety."
It was never Bidens position or the dnc position. Clay is a life long democrat who realized money in talk radio was on the conservative side, so now he just lies over and over for a paycheck.

A list of some of the Democrat Senators and Representatives that supported Defund positions (some still do and some read the atrocious polling and flipped in 2021 to a more electable message):

Kamala Harris (sure she didn't say defund specifically but she did argue for redirecting funding to other agencies that are not law enforcement)
AOC
Ayanna Pressley
Ilhan Omar
Rashida Tlaib
Kirsten Gillibrand
Bernie Sanders
Jamaal Bowman
Maxine Waters
Mondaire Jones
Cori Bush
Mark Pocan
Mazie Hirono
Pramila Jayapal
Barbara Lee
Nydia Velazquez
Zoe Lofgren
David Cicilline
Earl Blumenauer
Yvette Clark

And hundreds of rank-and-file democrats spanning the Administration, cabinet, federal agencies, state, and local jurisdictions.

So while you're right that the national party never made the statement a policy stance, the movement has been very strong throughout every level of the party.

You listed 19 people. There are currently 276 democrats in office counting both the house and senate. So that equates to less than 7% of currently elected Democrats. You are also being pretty liberal with what you are considering defund the police. This is from Bernie in June 2020, which was right in the middle of a lot of the protests.
  • "Do I think we should not have police departments in America? No, I don’t. There’s no city in the world that does not have police departments."
  • "What you need are — I didn't call for more money for police departments. I called for police departments that have well-educated, well-trained, well-paid professionals."
  • "And, too often around this country right now, you have police officers who take the job at very low payment, don't have much education, don't have much training—and I want to change that."
He is literally critiquing the low pay of police officers and says he wants more training, and you are somehow interpretting that as he wants to defund the police?

Here is Kirstin Gillibrand from June 2020
When asked during a conference call with reporters on Tuesday if she supports defunding the police, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) said “No, I’m for rethinking and reforming the police department.”

I am not going through your whole list, and yes, I am sure there are some who are calling for defunding the police, but when your list comprises less than 7% of the elected Dems, and, at least two on your list clearly state they werent for defunding the police, then it is quite a stretch to say this was anywhere close to being the mainstream Democrat position.

7% of a single party supporting something crazy like defund the police is insane.

But its not 7%. I just looked at 2 on there, who I was pretty sure werent for defunding the police, but I am sure if I went through the whole list I could find at least a few more. Tlaib and a few others, sure. But Tlaib also gave a rebutall to the SOTU so she obviously isnt a mainstream democrat if she is rubbutting the party leadership and platform.

So what is your threshold of people that have to push it for it to be a serious movement?

Enough to where it at least has a punchers chance of passing. This isnt even enough to waste time with and actually bring anything to the floor. What is your threshold on it?

You're not concerned that many from a single party supported it? I mean it's bat crazy to even say defund the police.

No I am not concerned with that, that few people is nowhere near enough to gain any momentum with it what so ever. Yes, the slogan was dumb. The slogan also wasnt accurate, but that doesnt take away from the fact it was dumb.

So when The Squad was the only group pushing Green New Deal as a trial balloon, you also figured it wasn’t part of the Democrat agenda. Yet it just magically found itself in a lot of the legislation proposed once Democrats controlled everything. That was just coincidence?

I heard very little 'Current' state of the union... Much more 'Future' state. Almost like a campaign speech.

I was most surprised to hear "no" masks, "Fund" the police, and "protect" our borders... I thought that was from the red team's playbook?

The Democratic party is trying to save the mid-terms at this point.

You know what's saddest? BIden hasn't been himself at all. He's been controlled by the left narrative. The man should have retired, instead of running. I don't like career politicians, never have, but Biden was one of the better ones ... with exceptions (especially on criminal justice reform).

He will not be remembered by historians well at all, possibly one of the worst all-time. Oh sure, they'll blame Trump for some of it. But long-term, Biden will get most of the blame.
