Strength of schedule now officially eliminates schools that aren't in P-5 conferences before the season begins. SOS for every P-5 by the end of this season will be so much better that even an undefeated season won't get those pretender conferences a representative into the national championship top 4.

It's still possible for an AAC or MW conference whose SOS is decent, but only with a back-breaking OOC schedule, but fewer P-5 schedules will let that happen (or make sure it's always played in their lions den). Expect an uproar from Congress when an undefeated Boise St., BYU, or UCF gets rejected.

The chances are about 1 in 1000. Plain and simple, we can't even think about that scenario as its too far-fetched and demoralizing. Have to get into a P5 conference. This year, UCF fans will be more than thrilled with a bowl game.

What's the point of playing any sport if you have no chance at winning the championship before you even play a game?

This is true, but how many teams ever win a national championship? Even if we could, it doesn't mean we would. How fun was 2013/2014?? That was so awesome and we were a G5 school.

I never go into a season thinking it would be crappy if we didn't win the national championship.

If youre G5 and you want to improve sos, beat non-conference teams especially in the P5. Navy losing to Air Force last week didnt do the American a favor. The victory is nice for their program, but a dud in the conference picture.

Exactly

College football is currently setup to keep G5 schools out. It's been this way since the BCS/Non-BCS split. Remember when the BCS made TCU and Boise State play each other instead of giving them a chance at the NC?

NCAA exists to make money, so until a G5 team with a massive fanbase and media pull shows up G5 teams won't be in the playoffs.

The only way a G-5 will ever sniff the playoff is to do what Houston did last year, and then do it again without losing the next year. Unfortunately for us G-5's, we have to be perfect two years in a row.

Something Houston couldn't do this year and Boise St. could never do as well. They always found a way to lose at least one game when they needed to run the table.

We were a "BCS school" that year. How we weren't ranked in the top 5 is beyond me.

Exactly.

Cfb is now run by the ESP5N NCAA cartel.

I expect that to be adjusted in 2025 when the tv deals expire and the playoffs expand to 8 or 16 teams.
