Does Key know what a playaction pass is? Stanford was stacking 8 in the box the whole game cause they knew it was going to be a run on 1st and 2nd down. Instead of calling a playaction Key would run it up the gut. No nuance. When Stanford is showing more nuance and creativity than you well that's a you problem.

On the drive Ucf had before stanback fumbled, Ucf showed signs of speeding game up and was effective. After stanback fumble they did not go back to it on subsequent drives. Some will say that UCF doesn't have the players to run hurry up offense. Yet they showed they could, then never went back to if. The question becomes what makes a hurry up offense. Mostly the Wrs should be able to catch short to moderate passes then gain yac. With smith, Johnson, Payton Ucf should have this critical component. Key just doesn't run it.

Yeah - you wonder how much of that is on GOL, cuz it was the same with Salem and Charlie (early on). GOL lets to need the kid open it up and do his own thing, or he's never gonna be HC with those kind of shit shows.

Someone needs to do the research and see how often we start a drive with run, run, pass. Since last season I wouldnt be surprised if we start close to 90% of drives that way. It's by far the most infuriating thing I've had to deal with as a UCF fan.

START drives with run, run, pass!? That's essentially our entire playbook for the entire game man! It's embarrassingly predictable.

One thing I would suggest that fans start to do is direct your anger and frustration towards Dr. Hitt. At the end of the day he is the captain of the ship and the leader of the University. Why don't you start calling his office and asking for change.

Coach Oleary's biggest problem is that he's a micromanager and he doesn't trust young coaches to make decisions on their own. He backed off Taffe after a while but he's is a older and seasoned veteran coach. Coach Oleary is his own worst enemy. And he's too old of a dog to change this late in the game.

But I will say this I honestly believe that we can win with the players we have if we had a more aggressive defensive mentality in years when we are young. And on offense just look to exploit and keep a defense off balance buy running more up-tempo at certain stages of the game. And the reason why we look crappy on trick plays in games is because we never actually run them in games. You have to do the plays in games to get good at it. Trick plays in practice don't mean a hill of beans in a real game.

This coaching staff will just not let the players use their talents to the best of their ability and it's so frustrating. Case in point, all I've heard in the spring and in fall practice is about how good Cedric Thompson looks catching the ball as an H-back. Have we utilized him as a weapon yet?

Let the kids make mistakes. Let them go out there and try to make big plays and gain confidence. That helps bring a certain energy to a young team and to the fans. Young players don't know any better it's just the coaches telling them they can't do this and they can't do that because their inexperienced. It basically says I don't trust you to help this team win games even if your starter.

I'm just ready for this program to reach its potential by being more open in recruiting and being way more dynamic in our offensive and defensive schemes and play calling. But I am fairly certain now that we are not going to reach the next level in terms of consistently winning and beating power five programs with coach O'Leary at the helm. I think this was the year that Oleary had to show that he could reload and not rebuild if he was going to make the statement that he can build a consistent winner year in and year out. And we can't use youth as an excuse any longer when you been at a program for 12 years.
