Not much talk about the NYP article

My opinion.

The story has become transparent in it's attempt of guilt-by-association. I don't think many rational people view Hunter as innocent here. At a bare minimum, he was using his name and relationship with the his dad for his personal benefit. But to stick this to his dad, there needs to be some clear evidence that US Policy was be impacted, or Joe was personally benefitting himself.

Compare this to impeachment. Regardless of your opinions on that, we had multiple career officials testify as first-hand witnesses in support of the impeachment narrative. I'm not aware of a single Obama era official who has gone on the record to testify in support of the Biden-is-corrupt narrative. The Senate interviewed a bunch of officials who would have been in positions to draw that conclusion, and no one did.

Hunter successfully introducing his dad to people is hardly going to serve as a smoking gun. Particularly in the Trump era, where international business entanglements with the first family are being normalized.

If you agree that Biden was selling his name for a paycheck, don't you have to agree that the party writing the check would want something in return? Why would they continue paying him if he wasn't producing their desired results?

Is it plausible that Joe knew nothing about what was going on? Pretty unlikely. What are the chances that Joe and hunter flew to China on AF2 together and dad never asked his son why he was going or what he did while they were there?

Remember back when Trump bragged that he can't have a conflict of interest because he's POTUS? He was kind of right. POTUS and VP are exempt from federal conflict-of-interest rules. Why? Because you can't have a functioning government if POTUS or VP have to constantly recuse themselves. The system requires a level of trust that those individuals are making decisions in the best interest of the country.

Even if Hunter is saying "Dad seriously I need you go easy on so-and-so" - that's TERRIBLE - but you have to connect it at the other end and show some evidence that Joe Biden's policy decisions were impacted. Where are the staffers who are like "and then after a secret meeting with Hunter, Joe reversed policy on Ukraine."?

How likely do you think it is that Biden didn't know anything about Hunters business dealings? Keep in mind that the Obama administration was the first to express concerns about what was going on.

I think that's my point. Even if Biden knew, it doesn't change anything. We need evidence that Biden acted corruptly, not just that the opportunity for corruption was present.

I mean, just because Trump "knows" Eric and Don Jr are trying to strike a business deal in a random country, does that mean Trump is acting corruptly because he knows about it? Of course not. We'd need evidence that Trump's actions (or direction given to others) had corrupt intent.

This was the entire debate around impeachment. There's little debate Trump had the authority to bend Ukraine policy, the question is whether the intent is motivated by something other than public interest. I've seen absolutely no evidence that suggests Joe Biden's intent was corrupt.

I realize that a lot of this story is conjecture, but at some point the picture is fairly clear particularly when we have Biden on video talking about having the Ukrainian prosecutor fired. Sure, it could all be unrelated but all signs point in the same direction. I would honestly give much more credence to the theory of coincidence as opposed to "Russia Russia Russia".

Because that’s so much more ridiculous than Hillary Clinton paying an ex-spy working for a company who has the wife of a high-ranking FBI agent on the payroll to invent something salacious on Trump to distract from her own scandals that costs the American taxpayers millions upon millions of dollars in fruitless investigations.

But hey, has the Biden campaign actually made a statement that these emails are fake.

Hillary’s probably behind this shit too.

Now they are saying the hard drives have child porn on them... Feeding the Q crowd some crumbs, perfect. Russia knows what they are doing, this isn't their first rodeo.

Also,

It sounds like Rudy has been in possession of child porn for several months? Isn't that very very illegal if it originated from hunter biden, russia, or elsewhere?

There's a fundamental flaw in this entire narrative with the prosecutor. If you listen/read the testimony of the people with direct knowledge of what was happening, the prosecutor's slow playing of the Burisma investigation was at least part of the reason he was considered "corrupt" and and US policy was to oust him. You literally have to believe corruption narrative presented you have to believe the opposite.

There's plenty of evidence of this. All 10 officials who testified to Ron Johnsons' committee said that neither Biden nor anyone else had altered US policy because of Hunter, and Biden was carrying out US policy. The anti-corruption activists in Ukraine were protesting for Shokin's removal, prior to Biden's firing demands, in part because of his inaction on Burisma. For example, Shokin refused to cooperate with a UK Fraud investigation while they had 20m+ of Zlovchevskyi's assets frozen.

See twitter of the head of the anti corruption outfit in Ukraine. They've constructed pretty compelling timelines of how Shokin slowed down investigations into Burisma, and their "anti-shokin" alignment pre-dates any of this stuff.

If anything, it seems more likely that Hunter would have been aligned with keeping Shokin in place, if his objective was to protect Zlochevskyi.

I'm cool with saying it's just an unrelated coincidence, but either way Hunter was clearly working for a corrupt company to be nothing but an influence peddler. That in and of itself should lend credence to the theory that these emails are real, and not just some Russian disinformation campaign.

Exactly. We went over these facts ad nauseam when this crap was actually relevant.

This whole thing is just a last-ditch effort by Russia and Rudy to change the election's dynamics.

The very notion that the President of this country is upset with his attorney general for not locking up his opponent a couple weeks before the election is mindboggling. We expect to see this kind of militaristic, Strong Man play in Russia or a third world country, not the USA.
