The New York Police Department tweeted that the officer, a 12-year veteran of the force, was in the vehicle with her partner in the New York City borough of the Bronx. She was a 48-year-old mother of three.

Command vehicles are stationary and resemble trailers, police explained.

Police sources told CBS New York the suspect is seen on camera walking out of a bodega, putting his hoody on, walking up to the passenger side of the vehicle and firing into it. The officer was sitting in the passenger side of the mobile command unit.

The suspect drew a revolver and the officers fatally shot him, authorities said, adding that a silver revolver was recovered at the scene.

Shit like this makes me get on board with the prison reform people.... except I want to go the other way and lock people up longer. Sickening that there are people with violent convictions that get probation, short sentences, and paroled way too soon.
why dont we execute people anymore? there should be fast pass system in place for people like him

Seriously, why was this guy even allowed to live?
Why couldn't the police seen him reaching for a gun while they were arresting him and ended it all right there? Now the tax payer will by paying for his boarding, 3 meals per day for the next 40 years. Hell, he will probably even get a degree or 2 while in prison. He should already be in the ground.
