So the pres took a nice spring break vacation to Cuba. He got to see some sights. Got to witness some protestors getting beaten up and taken to jail. Then got to have a little one on one followed by a press conference. I think later today hes going to watch some good ole fashioned beisbol.

What do you guys think of the trip and the Obama trying to start new dialogue?

Hope and change. He's buddying up to all the communist dictators and getting a first hand view of how he wishes the US would operate.

On a side note, I was watching a little news this morning and they had some pictures of Havana being broadcasted. I was absolutely astounded at what a shit hole it was. It was absolutely filthy. With all those spanish people there, you'd think that place would be spotless.

So it's basically like every other Caribbean nation?

Nothing more than a spring break vacation for the girls. He even brought the mother in law.

When doesn't he bring that old battleax. It almost makes me puke every time I see her trotting down the stairway from Air Force One with that smug Bill Cosby pudding pop look on her face.

More opportunity for the Cuban people, opens the door for Cuban entrepreneurs to flourish, opens business opportunities for us in the U.S., and we've lost nothing in terms of our ability to influence Cuban government. May have not necessarily gained anything, but like I said this isn't about the Cuban government, it's a out the Cuban people.

Don't you find it interesting that Obama makes nice with a communist government who definitely would not be considered an ally while he ignores at best Israel whom is the only democratic nation in the Middle East?

Hmmmm

Most paychecks there are issued by the government. The benefits to the majority of the Cuban people will be virtually non-existent.

My favorite was when he allowed himself to be lectured to by the midget dictator.

Yea, I'm sure those Cuban tech start ups will flourish now under Castro.

Listening to Open Mike this morning, Doc, who I normally hate brought up a decent point. He said he thinks this is more about opening dialogue now before the next regime change. At some point Fidel and Raul will die and there will be a change. We wont be able to affect any change in the short term, but with a new regime change, it might be possible.

Im ok with that. At least we are trying something new. It might work and it might not. If it works, thats a win for both countries. If not, we can always cut ties again.

Just like we can always "snap back" sanctions on Iran. There's no long game here specific to Cuba. This is simply a continuation of the Obama administration's pattern of withdrawing the US from its role of leadership in foreign affairs.

You seem to define leadership as sticking to a certain course regardless of if that course is has met any kind of objective over the past decades.

And our prior policy on Cuba was working to give them more opportunities in what way?

Truth. The spanish people took residence at a place nearby that was left as a dump. They cleaned that up real fast. As for Obama, visiting Cuba is like going back to his childhood.

Oh yeah and Donald Trump agrees with every negative thing said on this board about Cuba.

Tampa is dirtier than Miami, its prime waterfront spots for current & future development smells like rotten eggs

The nice spots of Tampa you'd want to live in are severely overcrowded with shit road systems. South Tampa is a perfect example.

yeah Tampa has some really nice pockets but it was just a poorly planned city. The Tampa side of the Bay should have had the Downtown residences & any bars built closer to the River by UT than Channelside which smells. Looks like that's what the current mayor is doing w the RiverWalk but that should have been done 25 years ago
