The big 12 wins the vote to hold a conference title game with 10 teams in its conference. Therefore, no reason to expand in the foreseeable future.

Stick a dagger in the rest of the G5's hopes of getting into the P5 unless they become a legitimate power.

UCF Better start racking up some 10 win and access bowl wins now.

The sky is not falling. They are just trying to delay the inevitable. They will have to expand or teams will be poached. They are acting like the Big East did before it crumbled....trying to delay and hoard their little pot of gold instead of being proactive. What good does it do for the conference title game to have two teams playing each other for a second time? None. It just dilutes their product and just increases the chance of the team that comes out on top from round-robin play to lose a game and then nobody from the conference would go to the CFP.

Well, there is always plan B. Make the AAC better than one of the P5. That seemed to be headed in the right direction until bowl season occurred. Houston is the new banner carrier, we hope to bounce back in a few years, Temple and Memphis have improved quite a bit. Cincy has probably been the most consistent. There's a ways to go, but as long as there is improvement each year, I can live with the AAC for a while.

Time to embrace the conference we are in and begin cultivating rivalries.

This is the stuff I've been saying for years.

Im ok with being in the AAC just as long as we have an exciting slate of DI OOC games and have the chance to face a ranked AAC team or two every year. Next year we've got Maryland, in-state "rival" FIU, Michigan and maybe a ranked Houston. Year after that, FIU, Maryland, Texas and Ga Tech....???...sounds good to me!

Remember, it will always beat the TAAC-ASUN, MAC, CUSA!

Pass that blunt to the left. The AAC better than a P5 conference?? Good one

We kind of fell off the face of the earth after 0-12. It is better things stay stable for a couple of years while we regroup. I don't see this as a negative.

Meh, at least it will not cost a fortune for tickets or parking anytime in the near future. Sometimes it is good to be a big fish in a small pond.

I like the statement.....but they have plenty of money. Seems like they can pretty much do what they want for a long time. :-/

Could have sworn I have been told by many on here that on the field success didn't really matter. Thought the tv market would carry UCF into the G5. Now why pray tell why no expansion is good in the time being? You were right. UCF needs to wipe off the stench of 0-12 and become an actual big 12 worthy football program

In theory it should be about the money, the TV market, etc. I followed the sports news on Big 12 expansion over the last 3 months, and UCF went from a top candidate to not even being mentioned as a top runner. So maybe its good they delay another year. :sunglasses:

We're going to be in a power conference eventually, one way or another. This move by the Big 12 doesn't change that. Does anyone here really believe that the current memberships in the P5 are now final for all time? Not a chance. There'll be another shakeup at some point, and UCF will be ready.

If you look at their ratings, they likely are overpaid right now. They have a fairly long deal so they are set for now. As next deal starts getting closer they will have to reconsider.

Being 7-5 or being 10-2 doesn't matter a whole lot. 0-12 is a different animal. We simply need to show that 0-12 was a freak year and not normal. We need at worse to go 5-7 next year.

All we really need now is for the playoffs to be expanded to 8 teams with one spot reserved for the AAC/G4.

This is what will eventually happen. Just as conferences have to expand, so does the playoffs...and you know it will with at least one more auto-bid. It makes sense that conferences must earn the distinction of "power" the more I think of it. Why does a conference, freshly formed like the AAC automatically deserve that distinction? This is why the AAC must continue to crush P5s.

Houston is a frenemy at this point...so are the other schools that finished top 25.

It's not just UCF fans who think TV markets are the biggest factor. The WVU AD came right out and said so.

I'll pull out the important parts for you.

“It’s in the finding stages, said Lyons, who suggested growth would hinge upon the ability of new members to help establish a network channel."

This from the guy who discusses B12 expansion with WVU President Gee (who is part of the B12 Expansion Committee) "at least once every couple of weeks."

About the only thing I agree with you on is that we need to get back to the top of the AAC in football. If we get back to where we were in the 2012-2014 seasons we will be OK, whether or not the B12 decides to add UCF.

Oh ok so just tell Texas to drop their longhorn network. WVU desperately wants a conference mate that is close to them. WVU doesn't speak for the big 12. Big 12 will expand if another TCU football power emerges from the G5. If not then they will stand pat for as long as they want

Ha based on what? Entitlement? UCF will remain in the G5 until they put together a string of 2013 seasons. If UCF was desirable now then they would have been invited by now
