We want to hear from UCF fans tomorrow on our radio show. What -- if anything -- can be done to right the ship? What happened? What are the solutions? What could this dismal season mean for the future of the program? Call us at 407 916-8255. I'm also writing a column about the future of the program Post your thoughts here and I might use some of the better ones.

Bear Bryant once tried to be AD and head coach. Bama started losing football games, by the next year the Bear was a HC and the school had a new AD.
GOL is not Bear Bryant. He is a guy that had his hands on many of the firsts for the school but now has bit off more than he can chew.

The Bear lost a few, George might lose them all. And if he does he will take with him any chance to move to the Big12 if expansion comes around this year.

GOL can't be HC and AD. It's too much. They are two totally separate full time jobs that require different mind sets.

Also, GOL can't hand the program off to his friend that has been loyal as his only real achievement. Brent Key is a sup par recruiter, terrible O line coach, and now is pretending to play dress up as an OC so that box can be checked on the resume before being handed the program. Brent Key as OC and our offense suddenly being ranked dead last in football is all you need to know about that dude being a HC.

So, solutions....

GOLAD and GOL won't separate obligations between jobs so Dr. Hitt must do it. Because we have painted ourselves into a corner with the GOLAD thing it is now up to the President to fix this.

1. Dr. Hitt needs to make clear that GOL is to return to his coaching duties and to remain HC as long as he wishes.

2. The school appoints a new intern AD and begins the search.

3. The Brent Key project is over. Demote or fire him I don't care but he's done. GOL is to promote Beckton and let him run the offense or at least call Charlie (tonight) and ask for help for the remainder of the season. At the end of the season we go out and search for a new OC.

4. Last and most important, when George decides to retire, no more Georgia Tech retreads (roof, Godsey, Key). We hold a real national search and go hire the best guy available.

Look man it's simple. GOL bit off too much by taking the AD job at the same time delegating to many responsibilities. It has bit us in the ass immediately but can also just as easily be fixed.

GOL is a coach, be a coach. We don't have an OC, so hire one. We don't have an AD, hire one. Key is not HC or OC material, stop pretending.

And lastly, it's up to you Dr. Hitt because GOL is too loyal to his friends to make the tough choices, you sir are the ultimate executive at this University and the only person that can force these changes, don't wait till the end of the year.

And Bianchi, rip off as much of my material as you want. Just get it out there.

For the love of God please ask what has become of William Stanback? This is the one question all UCF fans keep asking each other. So please ask GOL this next time you get the chance.

GOL can be Bear Bryant if you would just stop being negative.

Very well put

Stanback is a big power guy that is running behind a terrible o line. What happened to Stanback is terrible recruiting on the line. Will won't make anybody miss so he has to have big holes to run through. What we need is a guy that can be elusive by making others miss.

1) O'leary needs to beg Taafe to come back.
2) stop this interim AD nonsense. Hell just get anyone else. Mike O'donnell?
3) I'll thank George for the BCS win and multiple conference titles, however if you take the really bad with the really good you get average. I wasn't going to be shocked with a 6-6 year with one of the youngest teams and no returning starters on the field, but losing to FIU and Furman at home is so bad.
4) after the season start a national search for a new Head Coach. I think O'Leary will be remembered for a lot if he leaves after this season. Sticking around and having another bad season will really kill any legacy that remains.

Here's the answer. He doesn't get it done in practice, and he fumbles. Watch our future...McGowan and Jones (and Wilson whenever he comes back). They already look as good as he does.

Good post. 100% agree. GOL is a good coach, but at near 70 years of age
how can he possibly handle both duties when most 70 year olds can't handle 1?

He needs to stop being so loyal to his past as well. Offensive Coordinator's are born, not made. Key doesn't have an offensive mind to be one. Hire one from outside after the season or now from within.

Stanback isn't very good. Wilson was much better and the offense hasnt been the same since he was injured. The Holman injury is huge but with a healthy Wilson instead of Stanback we beat FIU and Stanford is a different game.

The problem is that you are asking O'Leary to start a national search for his own replacement (not Key) when his contract isn't up until 2017. All the while fulfilling his head coach duties during season and his other AD duties for all sports. No way he can fulfill a national search with the proper due diligence required while giving the football season the due diligence required there. And to just hand off many of his responsibilities to his obviously inept assistants (of course not all are inept, but some) in order to fulfill the AD due diligence is also self defeating. Many of his assistants require close scrutiny no doubt. Having an AD who is also the head coach is a clear conflict of interest. He has a duty to serve the school's best interests but he is simultaneously in an almost unchecked position that allows him to serve his own self interest even when detrimental to the school. Hitt will have to be the ultimate check on his power. Does he have the strength and will to make a difficult position and tell George no? I doubt that would be an easy decision considering the fact that O'Leary's accomplishments here have been significant for sure. What a mess.

Mike - Ask O'Leary to explain (in detail and not some defensive/non answer) to help us understand how he can handle the HC and AD positions at the same time. Follow up with asking how could any response be acceptable based upon our FB performance. Yes, the team is young but better coaching would have earned us a win against an FCS school. That loss is inexcusable. We have regressed 20 years.

I believe his contract runs to 2020. His AD title is interim so he can easily be relieved. I believe they gave him that title until the end of the year. First step is clearly removing him as AD.

Seriously, +1. We need upperclassmen and experience. Sitting Will Stanback and/or Chavis Dickey gives us neither. There better well be a damn good reason for sitting these guys, and 1 Fumble or missed block, or lack of hitting a hole a few times isn't one of them. Terrible coaching on GOL if these guys are in the so-called "doghouse".

There is a 44-yard per game dropoff between No. 126 in FBS in total offense (Utah State) and No. 127 (UCF). That’s…something.

Ask him how long is he going to keep Key at that position? I mean honestly. If anyone of us were as horribly inept at our jobs as he is we'd have been in the employment line weeks ago. Let's not use injuries as an excuse either cause they weren't any better when Holman was there.

Those guys show poor fieldsmanship in practice.

Ask him at what point does the well being and success of the program outweigh his own personal ambitions or in other words what would it take for him to retire.

How many AD hires have we had in the GOL era?

Why is it that we have had so many and cant find any stability at this important position? Can no one co-exist with GOL? Are the ADs always the fall guy when things go bad? Was GOL holding all the power all along and they were just the puppets? Is that why no real AD candidates want to come to UCF and deal with him?

I am curious to know these answers and it makes you wonder what is really going on out there since 2004. GOL has never, ever been held accountable for anything that has happened. It is always someone else and he gets a free pass. He gets contract extensions and more and more money.

I also find it funny that the same person that claims he doesn't use email and social media when all the scandals broke is now supposed to be the leader of our athletic department. Did he go through some miraculous training since then? How are we supposed to run a modern operation and communicate with kids and fans in our program who all they care about is social media. I guess he has good assistants, which should bring him back to the coaching side with more time. Obviously, the coaching thing isn't working out to well right now either so what is he doing right now?

Lastly, although GOL was probably saying it somewhat with optimism and to create a buzz the day he got hired, he said something to the fact that if you want Top 25 I am not your guy and reiterated we would be better than that. Yes, we got a Fiesta Bowl win and top finish accomplishment that year so that is 1 out of 10 years. For 2 million dollars a year and over a decade into this, now we won't even see the Top 100. Boy, that is a long fall and not what was advertised over a decade ago. Lets just hope his UCF career doesn't end with a winless season like his start did. Wouldn't that be like leaving it where you found it?

Ask him if he's a Giants fan. If so he's had to have two bad days in a row these last two weeks.
