Reading further (and reading posts in response to mine), I see what the real problem is: Expansion.
Too many are acting like the little kid who was promised he could go to Disney if he behaved, but mommy now says you didn't behave, and you're very very disappointed.
Too many people have this notion of the Big 12 saying, "Gosh UCF, you have everything we like--we're going to allow you to participate in our multimillion-dollar conference--wait, you had a down season---oooo, never mind."
First off, expansion isn't happening any time soon--a couple of years at the earliest. Second, expansion decisions will be based on sophisticated financial analysis that will also include program success.
Don't worry, kids, we'll get to Disney yet. Mommy knows the big picture.
