Taggart is off to a great start recruiting in Florida but he should at least wait till signing day(or coaching an actual Football game at Oregon) before declaring that Willie T has that Florida pipeline open long term. He seems to enjoy trashing the last staff and Frost specifically bc they chose to focus more on the West Coast vs Florida.

Willie's crew has to travel a lot more than Frost's. Duh. How long do you think Willie will be able to depend on recruiting players from 3000+ miles away? Frost should be looking at re-recruiting Willie's players 1-2 years later when they want to come home.

They are doing good so far. Wait till FSU and Ohio State offer though. They won't be top 10 when it's done.

Taggart and Cristobal are using the same network/contacts that they already had in place at USF and Bama. I just don't see it being sustainable after a few recruiting cycles especially if he goes 5-7 his first season.

USC which is a much bigger National Brand still attempts to build most of their roster from their Coast and a recruit from Orlando or Miami is much less likely to get culture shock/homesick in Los Angeles vs Eugene, Oregon

This whole "ties" to an area thing is so overrated. For instance, does anyone really think that Charlie Strong has such Florida ties anymore since he was a UF assistant coach several years ago when the present recruits were like 10-12 years old?

Frost better start winning and showing the high powered offense, because even the "Oregon offense" mystique is going to fade soon if it hasn't already.

Also, this year's crop of freshmen were stolen from USF commits that he recruited. That's what Houston's coach did on going to Texas. The NCAA should add a non-compete clause to prevent poaching by coaches who used their former school's money and resources to recruit these players. That leaves the school without a recruiting class, too.

Growing up in an area is different than Charlie coaching at Florida. Willie has people he grew up with coaching in the state.

A HS Coach that he grew up with in the Bradenton area single handily saved his coaching career at USF. He's the one that brought the new offense that turned them around when Taggart was on the ropes & the USF AD was thinking about firing him. He's not a top offensive mind and is reliant on Assistant Coaches for anyone that's done their research on him.

Great Recruiter but will toe that line with the NCAA. He got away with some shady tactics at USF that might get exposed at a place like Oregon.

So..........you're saying there is going to be hell to pay for Portland State?

Of course Willie is shady. He learned it from his HS coach. The guy who's wife was on the school board and would move Manatee High School's district around to get the best players. Tommy Fraiser grew up in Palmetto, FL, but when he was ready to go to HS his neighborhood was all of a sudden in Manatee High School's area.
