If Oregon doesn't become bowl eligible will Scott Frost get a phone call? Oregon will probably lose tonight dropping them to 2-4, and there isn't any cupcakes left on their schedule.

I doubt they would go the Assistant/Former Assistant route again. My guess they look at Boise's coach, PJ Fleck, or Dan Mullen if he wants out of the SEC

Watching their collapse is hilarious since it seems a lot of their fans would blame Frost for the O not putting up Mariota numbers early last season & that the replacement OC would be an upgrade

UCF hired their 2 Best Assistants

Doubt it for the above reasons and pride as well. There is probably some bad blood and hard feelings.'

Just an idea from CBS article about Navy's win

"Herman is so beloved in Houston that a Cougars fan created a GoFundMe account to raise money through T-shirts with Herman's face that reads, "Come And Take Him." So far, $20,000 of the $31,4000 goal has been raised."

They love Helfrich. It would have to be more than one 'bad' season. The DC would be the sacrificial lamb. Think GOL era.

Not after last night's slaughter to a major regional and conference rival during a horrid season. Oregon has always been the party school of the northwest (Animal House was filmed there because it was the only college willing to let itself be associated with the movie most responsible for reviving the then dying Greek system). Oregon alums harbor fond memories and strong bonds with the school and it's unlikely stable of NFL starts.

The Oregon fan base blamed Frost for not recruiting and developing QB's, because transfers kept winning the starting job. By all accounts Frost was overridden on which QB's would get offers (see MM), so he may not be too keen to return.
Yeah from what I've seen from their fans after Chip Kelly left they just wanted to go strictly star rating at QB and some other positions while Frost had a different opinion on some prospects.

Milton is a good example and I mentioned this when his # of offers came up is that Frost had him on 'his board' and was probably very close to an Oregon offer and may have gotten overridden by Helfrich.

A slaughter like that hasn't happened since the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor

Schools and their big donors like at Oregon get a feeling of entitlement. Oregon is still a smallish school in an average income state and small market like Nebraska. They get spoiled by success into thinking they deserve to beat USC or Stanford (or even wealth, large-market U. Washington).

I brought this up a week or so ago and I still think its a possibility. It is pretty crazy how far they've dropped this year, unless Washington is really that good.

I think the Pac12 is really that good this year. We don't see their late games and don't appreciate how deep that conference is. The California recruiting market is in some ways as good as Texas and Florida.

If we win 6-8 games, no one is calling. If we win 10 games, EVERYONE is going to come calling.

We're not winning 10 games though.

No matter the number of wins, if we go from bottom 25 to top 25 in defense, Chinander's phone is going to be ringing off the hook.

Bianchi thinks Frost will be getting Tom Hermann like offers after ONE conference win. Unbelievable. Can we go to a middling bowl game before you print the "Frost is leaving for a big job" article, Bianchi?

Typical Bianchi, hyping up every story to get reads. There will always be top college FB jobs every because of the fact that the media and boosters have put unrealistic expectations on programs. If Frost can average 8 wins a year at UCF he will have his pick of jobs every year. Winning 8 games at UCF isn't difficult in the American. So it doesn't matter if Frost leaves after 2 years or 10 years, he will get a better job because UCF is set up to win in the American with our location, recruiting base, school/academic offerings.

I personally think he would be an idiot right now to leave UCF for any job. First, he already said he doesn't want to go places where he can't recruit. Now I know Oregon has tons of money but it's still very hard to recruit there. If he leaves now he can't preach to any kid, asst coach, of fan base about loyalty ever again. He would be the biggest hypocrite ever. Also, even Nebraska isn't an easy place to recruit to any longer.

Another thing, Frost is a smart guy, I think he understands that if he takes on too big of a job early on in his head coaching career and fails he will be labeled a loser at a young age and likely never get opportunities for big coaching jobs again.

He needs to show he can build a sustained winner at UCF before he leaves. Because one or two good seasons isn't a track record. And honestly I think as long as we have the right leadership at president and AD like white I feel good about them making great coach hires where we stay a consistent winner.

Frost is doing ok so far but he still has a lot to prove to me. Win championships and then we can talk about how great he is.

I 100% agree. If he goes to Oregon and fails, who's going to take him then? A mediocre P5 team or another G5 team.

The ceiling is so high at UCF and the pressure is relatively low. Any coach at Frost's level of experience or higher would be an idiot not to want this job for a few years at least. It's a great lifetime job as well, because you are guaranteed to be pretty successful in the AAC and if we get into a P5 conference, everyone will be so happy with that, that the coach wouldn't have the pressure to win immediately.

The present and potential salary isn't that much lower than most programs either.

Close the thread. This answered every question. No more needs to be said.

How foolish is Bianchi going to look if he asks Frost about Oregon coaching rumors on his next radio show when the only real rumors that I've heard around here have been created by Bianchi himself. I dare him to ask Frost. Frost will be polite and act like WTF?? Personally, it's a bit of a slap in the face to UCF and it's fanbase. What writers will do to get their articles read. Sounds like desperation to me.

Maybe Frost also prefers the trees and nature and the more peaceful vibe for his family? Sounds familiar

Wow, I hope you guys are right. However, I doubt 8 wins a year will be enough to satisfy a certain portion of posters on this Board.

Wait til his family discovers that we only have no change in the seasons here: 90 degree temps and humid for 9 months, damp for the other 3 months. Meanwhile, we have wildfires, sinkholes, flooding, fire ants, tornados, hurricanes, disease-carrying mosquitos, and no mountains or even hills.
