OT: Chris Borland's NFL retirement after one year - do you buy it?

Obviously this has dominated sports media over the last day or so... San Francisco 49ers LB Chris Borland (formerly B1G Defensive Player of the Year at Wisconsin) announced his retirement after one season due to football's safety/health concerns.

It's got everybody talking about the future of football, whether it's impacting youth in playing the sport, etc.

I haven't read anything on the subject, but do you buy his rationale? It might be perfectly legitimate. But it's not like Borland really cashed in. I think I read he cleared around $600,000 who knows how much of that is left (taxes, etc.).

LB Patrick Willis retiring, I can certainly understand that. He's been clearing around $7M/year so certainly he has some savings.

Next chapter even more interesting for Chris Borla
