Free tickets, free parking and still they were barely able to draw <<maybe>> 5,000 fans.

I will hand it to them though...their stadium is nice and they have a nice biergarten area, although prices are quite steep. NFL steep.

Charlotte 28, FAU 23

You realize that Charlotte is the lowest ranked (128th) school and one of the newest? FAU has been around for a while and in the middle of prime recruiting territory. You could practically grab up players walking down the street and assemble a decent team.

FAU and FIU need to combine and field 1 team and combine fanbases to get to 7,500 fans.

the sports fan culture in South Florida is terrible at all levels(College and Pro), it's the worst market to oversaturate with College teams. There are more UCF fans in Boca

There's probably 3 South Florida teams that could combine to form a fair fan base, especially during home coming week.

I honestly don't know why FAU and FIU don't throw in the towel. Is it pointless to spend 10's of millions of dollars in higher college costs for students so a few hundred people can enjoy a football game. See if the ncaa we grant a waiver to combine athletic programs into one to reduce costs or just give up on the failed D1 experiment.

Boca ia a tough place to draw real college football fans. Plus, FAU is the ultimate commuter school! If they were a winning team they could draw 15K to 20K. Stadium is nice. Holds 30K I believe. I used to live in Delray.

I know I previously mentioned it but the stadium has a great, wide open area where they serve beer to all....complete with comfy lounging chairs. Real nice atmosphere where most of the fans were hanging out.

Schnellenburger was walking around with the fans. Hes looking old. Also bumped into two high school recruits who were watching the game. They were both adament that they were NOT coming to FAU, motioning to the "crowd". I mentioned Scott Frost and they immediately perked up and were real impressed with him.

But FIU is like 60 percent Hispanic while FAU is the "suburban" school for non-Hispanics. At least that's the way it used to be.

FIU has the highest athletic department share funded by student fees (72%) vs. USF at 46%, UCF (43%), FSU (10%), and UF (3%). So the wealthy kids attending UF get one additional subsidy! Sounds fair.
