Not only has FAU lost a potentially key cog along its offensive line, but the sport of football has lost yet another player, too.
In an interview with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Joe Goldconfirmed that he decided two weeks ago to both leave the Owls football team and quit the sport altogether. Gold has already returned home to Charleston, SC, and has informed coaches and now-former teammates that he will not be returning when the team takes the field for the start of summer camp next month.
Gold said the demands of the game, as well as the coaching staff’s approach — yelling vs. supportive encouragement — pushed him to make the decision
