So my wife and I have a meeting set-up with our financial advisor thru Edward Jones that I did my son's college fund thru for the past 6 years when we moved back to AZ. We have utilized the same Edward Jones office and have had no issues. The office has always been quick to respond for as rarely as I needed to make minor adjustments but we have gone thru a new advisor every 12-18 months as people come and go. We are finally branching out into things past work 401K plans, company stock options, and our small single stock account and looking at a 20-25 year plan.
I think i'm the type of person that would be more loyal to an individual broker than I am to the company they are with and ready to begin vetting a couple advisors. Outside of a joint Roth 401K that we could set-up ourselves ,i'm not sure what else they actually do? Does anyone have any tips they can share on questions to ask, things to look for etc? At this point I just want to show them we are at "Point A" based on what we have done the past 10 years on our own and for them to get me a 20 year plan to get to "point B" based on branching out on some other things i'm not familiar with all while being able to stick with the same person for as long as possible.
