Just had a good friend die from COVID. His name was Jeff Hynard. He was my neighbor down the street when I used to live in Florida. I would see him almost daily when walking my dog. He would walk his dog, Jora, around the same time and so we would frequently stop and talk. He used to work at a radio station where he would go on the air occasionally and had a great sense of humor. He would always make me laugh. He had a real zest for life despite having several health issues. He was only in his 50’s but had to have a kidney transplant due to being born with bad kidneys. I remember after his kidney transplant how excited he was to have a second chance at life. He had been on the transplant waiting list for several years and had multiple complications related to dialysis while waiting on the list. So he was really happy when he finally was able to get a new kidney. This was only a couple months ago. Then, last week he contracted COVID despite being fully vaccinated. He was placed on oxygen and received multiple treatments but continued to decline. He eventually had to be intubated. He made this post on Facebook just before he was put on the vent. “I may be intubated soon. Please pray for my wife and son and help support them with love and any financial support. We are desperate. I am at Tampa general hospital looking bleak for survival of coronavirus.“

It’s just really sad because he was regarded as one of the nicest and friendliest people in the neighborhood. Everyone loved him. He brought so much joy to this world and could always light up a room and put a smile on your face. It’s truly heart breaking.

His wife posted this shortly after his death. “To say that Jeff will leave a void that can never be filled is an understatement. He was my happiness, my joy, my laughter, my heart, and my soulmate. He was the love of my life”

It is also very frustrating that there are people currently who will not get vaccinated. To those out there that will not get the vaccine, stop thinking you are the center of the universe. Stop being selfish. Think about others that are less fortunate than you who may have been given a bad card at birth.

Whether you think the vaccine is safe or not I don’t care. Stop being a wimp. It is safe enough. Millions have received it without any issue. It wasn’t safe going overseas to fight in a world war 75 years ago yet people back then stood up to the challenge without question and did what was required without regard for their own well-being. Save someone’s life, be a hero, and get the vaccine. Please, this delta virus is not a joke.
