I'm looking to plan a trip for my wife's birthday in March and we're thinking about going to Iceland. We really want to see the Northern Lights and all the other tourist stuff. I figured there's been more then a few Dungeon members that have gone and can give feedback and suggestions. We would go for between a week to 10 days and I would like to get a car so we can go where we want. I've been checking flights and can get Icelandair nonstop for about $1,300 in coach or $4,000 in what is their domestic first class seat for the 7 hour flight. Not sure if it's worth the fare difference for a 737 Max. I've see online that they used to take bids to upgrade. Does that still happen? I've got a half a million Delta points but it doesn't look like they fly there from here, at least when we want to go.
Again, I'd appreciate any suggestions for things to do and see as well as places to stay. I've got about 400K Hilton points so can use them in and around Reykjavik.
