Remember about 2 years ago when SI published a huge multi-part expose on the Oklahoma State program, detailing how they basically had hostesses giving sexual favors to recruits, paying players, and neglecting their own drug testing policy? Well, it's finally been through the NCAA investigation process and here's all that they have to do as punishment:

  • Shut down their hostess program for 4 years
  • $8,500 fine
  • 1 year probation
  • Football recruiting restrictions
That's it. No bowl bans, scholarship reductions, or player suspensions, or any coaches fired. And why not any further punishment? Because they cooperated, according to one member of the COI they were the most cooperative school they had ever seen.
They had an allegation for failure to monitor, but despite admitting that they ignored their own drug policy (the coaches said the thought they had some leeway with the standards), the COI did not levy that decision.
