The former UVa head basketball coach, probably better known to UCF fans as ECU's longtime AD, died Feb 26 after battling Alzheimer's. His illustrious head coaching career aside, he was probably best known around here as the man who hired Skip Holtz and Ruffin McNeill, sent a gift basket to the BIG EAST in hopes of getting ECU considered for expansion, expanded Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium from 43,000 seats to #50,000Strong, and was the architect behind ECU's infamous Virtual Bowl. Certainly a man who was not afraid to think outside the box.
