Saw this on Deadspin's Tweet:

"If you could go back and change the outcome of one play in any sporting event, which would it be?

What say you?

UCF ANSWER: Penn State game winning field goal in Ireland.

NON UCF ANSWER: Allan Houston's series clinching buzzer beater in '99 eliminating the #1 seed Miami Heat.

UCF would have scored another touchdown against South Carolina and ended the season undefeated.

In reference to that Texas game, Lawrence Young broke up a pass, but would've had an excellent chance to return that ball for a touchdown if he'd intercepted it. Had we beaten Texas in the opening game at BHNS, that would've been simply amazing.

Hard to pick just one, but:

UCF - Chris Lorenti wouldn't have hiked the ball at Daunte's feet late in the game, causing a fumble deep in Auburn territory in 1998. We win that game had we not turned it over. We win that game, we go bowling that year, in just our 3rd season in 1A. Who knows what that would have done for our program.

Non-UCF - I have to agree with the Nick Anderson free throws. He makes just ONE out of those FOUR attempts, and the Magic win game 1 of the '95 finals. Who's to say what happens the rest of the series, but that gut-wrenching, crushing loss was absolutely devastating.

Last play of the Superbowl last year, so my Seaturkey's would be back-to-back Champs. I thought the play call was good. New England was in one-on-one match-ups against each WR, with no help. They had an extra guy in the box. If the WR (Kearse) blocks Browner backwards even 1 yard instead of letting him get position, that DB never gets a chance to break the play up because he would have had no direct line. Great recognition by Browner (who was on Seattle the year before). Sucks...but New England made one more play than Seattle that day. They executed when it mattered most.

**** EVERYONE BRINGING THAT UP!!!!

I've paid a lot of good money to make sure I don't remember that travesty ( along with that former Broncos' kicker's XP in Hawaii ).

Jackie Smith dropped pass in 1978 Super Bowl. Nothing more obnoxious that Steeler fans.

Don Denkinger making the correct call in the 9th inning of Game 6 of the 1985 World Series. No question that call started a total meltdown of the Cardinals. It wasn't going to be the final out, but it started the downward spiral that lost that game, then the next.

There a long list for UCF. Prater's boink off the uprights, phantom OPI call against UGA, fumble against Auburn, Daunte's failed 2 point conversion against Ole Miss, Blake taking a sack against Mizzou right before the half, Quincy's fumble against NCSU, I could go on...

Anderson's FTs are bad, but also just as bad was Courtney Lee's missed layup in Game 2 of the 2009 Finals.

UCF: Daunte tripping over the center's foot in OT at Ole Miss. IMO that started the run of "close by no cigar" games against big name schools. Win that game we are not (at the time) "0-fer" against big name schools trying to get that first big win. Which, BTW, gets harder the more you try and fail.

NON UCF: Alex Gonzales booting the Sunday hop double play in the 8th inning of game 6 of the Cubs/Marlins NLCS right after the "Bartman" ball play. And no Moises Alou would not have caught that foul ball either way. Gonzales lost that series, not Bartman.

GO KNIGHTS!!!!

I'm going with Knightshift here. Daunte's fumble at Auburn was the worst for me!

Possibly Daunte's decision at Purdue. I was at the game, UCF was on the Purdue 3 yard line. Daunte calls an audible and tries to pass to Charles Lee in the endzone. Purdue defender intercepts the ball and runs it back 103 yards for a TD. (#@!345^&*&^%$#$%^&8987634#$9*76%$#3!

As a Marlins fan this made me smile. I agree that Alou probably wouldn't have caught that ball anyways. "Those damn Marlins would not stop hitting."

Ricky Proehl's 30 yard TD reception on 3 down and 4 with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter of the 1999 NFC Championship game.

Until that play the Bucs held the Rams' Greatest Show on Turf to 3 offensive points on the road in St. Louis. The game went on to be better known for the Bert Emanuel call that stalled the game winning drive attempt for the Bucs, but the Ricky Proehl catch was the game changer. He drops that pass and the Bucs probably go on to win the Super Bowl instead of the Rams.

UCF - The pick Godfrey threw against SC on the trick play. Completely changed the game.

Non-UCF - About a dozen plays against Seattle in the CCG last year would have ended that game. Going down on the pick, allowing that freak 2 pt conversion, onside kick, pick in the end zone, etc, etc, etc.

UCF - I would have to agree that UCF scoring 1 more TD against SC 2 years ago would have been great to see UCF go undefeated.

non-UCF - The pass interference call against Miami in the 2002 Fiesta Bowl in OT that would have given the 'Canes back to back National Championships had that ref not thrown the flag.

My first thought would be winning South Carolina 2 years ago... but really thinking about it, it would be pulling off the Auburn win with Culpepper. We would have finished 10-1, may have gone bowling, and the 0 for streak vs BCS teams would have been killed before it ever started.

I tend to agree with many on here so I thought I would bring up two plays that people might not be thinking about...

UCF Play: Godfrey's roll-out fumble right before the half at FIU which led to a scoop and score by the Panthers. Ultimately losing a game we should've easily won against FIU.

NON-UCF Play: 2009 NBA Finals... Jameer Nelson backing off and allowing Derrick Fisher to hit that dagger 3 pointer right in his face. (In fact bringing back Jameer as the starter in the Finals was a complete mistake IMO. He should've just came off the bench. Ended up killing the team's chemistry out there which Rafer Alston had flowing.)

This too.
