Been thinking about it more and I’m questioning why we risked injuries when the game was clearly over to put 7 more on the board.

Was Gus trying to teach the team a lesson? To get more exp for Timmy? To make the score look more respectable?

Just seemed really odd to me..

I thought the final drive was to continue to give our players chances to get reps in. Sure we lost but we were still able to get some throws in. There were 2-3 plays that I thought Timmy made errors on that cost us momentum. There were also 2-3 plays that I thought the officiating was terrible on. The play that killed us was when he ran backwards for 15 yards and then ran out of bounds. I think the coaches will be working on that with him over the next week. Otherwise, I thought Timmy had great vision in the pocket but just took too long to throw the ball. I think he got scared on one play but overall, for his second start I see room for growth and improvement and he didn't do a poor job.

Completely agree with continuing to drive with the same fervor. I coach football at the middle school level and I can tell you there’s no way to replicate game scenarios in practice.

Use the reps to continue to improve. Playing hard only when you have a chance to win makes no sense to me.

frankly, as a k-state fan, i didn't care one way or the other. ucf isn't the first nor the last to do that. the game wasn't over. coach gus had every right to try to score again and did.

k-state didn't have to score their last TD. they chose to do that and had every right to.
Kansas State ran the ball in the final drive, because UCF had all their timeouts with over 2 minutes. I don't think Howard expected to go 31 yards untouched, he could have slid early, but would have had to still pick up another first down before they could run out the clock.

Yeah, a lot of inexperienced players out there. Those reps are critical, regardless of the score. Especially since our defense was primarily on the field all night getting bullied by KSU, why not get a couple more snaps in to work on red zone offense? Probably could have used the opportunity/experience to work on a two-point conversion play as well, but chose not to for some reason.

I loved it. Just thinking about sending the offense out there and giving up makes me ill. Gave them more experience playing together and an opportunity to finish on a good note, which they did.

We just don't have the horses....yet. 31 points not too bad, away, K-State, UCF 2nd string QB, etc. But in the end, they cut through our defense like a hot knife through butter.

Agree….All of these P5 programs including Kansas St. have been recruiting with that label for decades. Imagine the talent and depth Gus can bring with a full 4-5years recruiting with that P5 label. We’ll be a conference contender every year. Talent wins. Provided there’s good coaching/game planning and development.

UF and FSU were national contenders years ago. Not relevant in conference every year. Putting cart before horse to think we’d be near top every year.
