Pair of UCF RBs named to Doak Walker Award watch list

Fifth-year senior Isaiah Bowser and junior Johnny Richardson are up for the award that annually honors the nation’s top running back.

UCF is 1 of 12 teams with two backs on watch list. Orig article from pay wall da*slant. Here is link of all candidates

I really think Bowser has what it takes for the NFL. This is his year to show that. With this group of fine RB I think Gus uses him sparingly to keep him healthy. That should equate to more carries for Richardson and other RB. It will be interesting to see who falls into the the 3 RB. Can't wait for fall camp to start.

3rd and 4th RB is probably more like it with the depth we have. Probably best RB group in the country. Finally after years of trying to get some quality at that position rather than maybe having one good stud.

"Finally"? lol Yeah man, it's almost like a few years of having Adrian Killins (3rd all-time at UCF in scrimmage yards, 6.0 YPC, 33 TDs), Greg McCrae (3rd all-time at UCF in rushing yards, 6.5 YPC, 30 TDs), and Otis Anderson (6.1 YPC, 26 TDs) at RB at the same time never happened lol.

I'm happy for our current guys for the recognition, but come on...your take above is just not accurate whatsoever.

Easily the position to be most excited about. Extremely interested in watching the young man from MIlton, GA, Jordan McDonald as well. Already nearly Bowser-sized but looks faster on tape. We're overflowing with talent at RB. I hope Bowser lights it up and stays healthy, not just for us, but for him. What a delightful addition to Knight Nation he's been. I'd root for him whatever he does.

Don't forget former 5 star RB transfer from Florida/Clemson, Demarkcus Bowman (needs a waiver to play this year).

I know we don't know if he's eligible yet but I'm excited about Bowman. Huge upside in my mind.

I’d rather him not be eligible this year. Have 4 capable ready this year already. We probably lose 4 of the 8 listed above over the next year or so and he won’t have to worry about Bowser being lead back and Johnny getting most of the backup reps.

I wish him the best, would love an NFL career, but "....uses him sparingly to keep him healthy. " is hardly something you'd want the NFL to hear. Any hint of fragility, and the phone is as silent as usf's this weekend.

But hey, if the NFL is/can get back to things like Thunder and lightnings as RBs (meaning use of 2 equally) than he could have a good career.
